A game about vengeance, outcasted for being unique, over something that can't be changed. Something you want to embrace and protect: your identity.
Play as Sakinko, a young warrior set on a quest to avenge her father’s death and protect her people from the evil spirits that now menace her land, these evil spirits take the name of Wekufu.
Explore a hand drawn fantasy world, fight fierce enemies, obtain new skills from bosses, find skill upgrades and relics and get stronger. Face evil and become the fiercest warrior this land has ever seen, a Kallfümalen, and bring balance to Mülewe mapu.
Sakinko means “still, calm water”. As someone once told me, when your name suggests you should be calm, your personality is usually the furthest thing from calm. That's Sakinko. Sakin also means "Honor, Respect and Cherish" and is something hopefully Sakinko will leave on you.
Stickerb Games has lanched a Wekufu kickstarter campaign, looking to raise $10,218 to help the developer fund the costs of production.
Wekufu features a more dark/moody kind of artstyle that reflects what's happening in the story, a corrupted nature, an evil entity you can't fully understand, a search of an objective, of an identity. Explore this fantasy setting and experience nature in a way only art can provide.
No frame is the same. Every single sprite from game characters is hand drawn, no bones, no reused animations. No flipped sprites, most characters are asymmetrical, so every single animation has to be drawn again, showing the other side of the character.
Simple yet hard to master gameplay, no fight is easy and you’ll have to learn how to use your skills in order to survive the hordes of evil spirits that want to erase your bloodline once and for all. Melee and ranged combat, evil spirit skills and combinations make your arsenal against all kinds of enemies. This is a fight focused platformer, enemies are not obstacles, they are here to defeat you and so, they’ll analyze your movement and try to get you down. Will you be able to succeed on your journey?
Sakinko uses traditional weapons, Bow and Arrow (Pülki) and a Flexible Long Chilean Bamboo Spear (Waiki). While the Waiki represented in game is not as long (2.3 meters / 7.5 feet) as the original (5 meters / 16.4 feet) it preserves its flexible yet slow movement. Your attacks take a few seconds to reach the enemy but can also hit multiple targets. You'll have to attack at the right time or cancel your attacks by evading or you'll get hit. Arrows are faster and always available when you are not using your "Waiki", take precise headshots and slow down enemies by constantly hitting them with your arrows.
Environments feature own recordings of birds, forests and rivers from actual Chilean forests, mixed with dark drones and specific sounds played when you least expect it, creating an overall mood where danger is always around the corner. Every zone has its own touch in both art and audio design.
Music is also a big part of Wekufu, featuring an incredible, dark yet atmospheric soundtrack that makes the pace for your exploration and adds to the constant feeling of being in danger. Each battle brings scars and you'll feel that through the music!
