'Iron Harvest' Adds New World Campaign Map, Free To Play On Steam This Weekend

by Rainier on Aug. 18, 2022 @ 9:09 p.m. PDT

Iron Harvest is a real-time strategy game set in the world of 1920+, an alternate version of our own world where mankind, fascinated by technology, engines and iron, invented powerful walking machines.

Once mighty weapons on the battlefields of the Great War, they are now part of everyday life. Mighty factions fight for influence, while hidden forces are working towards the destabilization of Europe, determined to set the world on fire once again. Now, a few years after the Great War, secret forces are working towards the destabilization of Europe, determined to set the world on fire and seize control.

After World War 1 farmers found a plethora of unexploded ordnance, barbed wire, weapons, shrapnel and bullets while ploughing their fields. They called it the Iron Harvest.

You lead hero characters, mechs, and soldiers into battle. Cover mechanics and dynamic destruction play a major role in combat. Your squads take cover automatically, but a simple brick wall will only offer protection against small calibers, not against mech-mounted cannons. Throughout its open sandbox levels you have to find your own way to reach the goals set by the dynamic story line.

The Saxony Empire is one of the most influential countries in Europe, with powerful industry, developed cities, modern factories and a strong military tradition. After the unfavorable conditions of surrender in the Great War, the current mood in the Empire is bad, and proud elites and humiliated aristocrats secretly oppose the Emperor’s appeasement policies.

The world of Iron Harvest is getting bigger once more. The free update that added the World Campaign Map in June is getting an update, including a new map and new starting scenarios.

With the free update in June, Iron Harvest kicked off the World Map Campaign Mode. The well-balanced mix of turn-based and real-time strategy garnered praise from players thanks to its replayability with over 40 new missions to start.

Giving players even more to sink their teeth into, Iron Harvest now gets a new world campaign map, Archipelago. Set up as a small continent, some regions on the exterior are connected while those on the inside are separated by several bodies of water. The continent’s center is the key to success, making it the heart of the map.

Archipelago will be accompanied by four new starting scenarios:

  • Us or Them: The single enemy faction in the west is slowly expanding and getting dangerously close to two areas of importance on this archipelago.
  • Pioneers: The major factions are in a race to colonize and conquer new lands. Seize as many regions as possible before the other factions take this new territory for themselves.
  • Scattered Kingdom: Each faction’s territory is fragmented. You must put down the ongoing uprising and reunite – and potentially expand – the realm.
  • Custom: Play your way. Select which faction begins where, their starting strength, difficulty, and victory goals.

Players who haven’t entered a mech cabin yet soon get the chance to go on a test drive: Iron Harvest’s base game will be playable for free Aug. 18-21 on Steam.

KING Art Games and Deep Silver released a road map displaying the upcoming free updates and next content beats for the game during September.

The Polania Republic is a large agricultural country with a long history. It is trying to maintain its status and territory, struggling with its aggressive neighbors: The Saxony Empire in the west and Rusviet in the east. Polania initiated a program to modernize its army while a large part of the country is still occupied by Rusviet forces.

Rusviet Rusviet is huge, powerful, and has unmatched industrial and population potential. However, the country is tired and worn out by the long war. People are frustrated, and the power of Tsar Nikolaj weakens. Mysterious Grigori Rasputin has become an extraordinarily powerful man and revolution is in the air...

1920+ was developed by Polish artist Jakub Różalski and earned him a cult-following because of his beautiful artworks painted in the style of the old masters.

Key Features:

  • Three playable factions with over 40 unit types and 9 heroes
  • Three singleplayer campaigns with an overarching story (21 missions)
  • Singleplayer & Co-op skirmish matches
  • Singleplayer & Co-op challenge maps
  • Competitive multiplayer (ranked matches, seasons)
