'Trailmakers' v1.7 Spacebound Update Planned For Later This Month, Adds New Map, Outer Space And Vehicles - Trailer

by Rainier on Oct. 11, 2023 @ 12:00 a.m. PDT

Trailmakers is a mash of a creative vehicle-building sandbox combined with an open-world rally experience.

Daring adventurers are flocking to an abandoned planet that was once a holiday paradise. Now, harsh weather and dangerous wildlife scourge the land. But silly things like "hazards" and "unsafe terrain" just need ramps, checkpoints, and goal posts to become a bona-fide off-world rally expedition! Intrepid explorers require only courage, curiosity, and creativity to participate.

You begin your journey in a desolate canyon on a distant planet, and must scavenge for discarded vehicle parts. Build a rig and experience the sweet rush of freedom that follows the acquisition of motorized transportation.

Flashbulb Games announced a new free Trailmakers update will land on October 31, 2023, and it will include the biggest map they ever made for Trailmakers.

The v1.7 Spacebound update revolves around the fantasy of building your own vehicles for space. For the first time ever in Trailmakers you'll be able to play in outer space. You can build any kind of vehicle you want and make it work in space and on moons, yes barely everything is possible in the new upcoming space update. Just explore and enjoy!

"Space has been our holy grail for a long time. On one hand we knew it would be awesome to deliver on this fantasy to our fans who have been calling on this for years. On the other hand, real space is kind of boring and characterized by something not very Trailmaker-y: Lack of gravity and drag. So we had to come up with some new blocks that could make our version of space as playful and fun as the rest of Trailmakers, and I think we really hit the spot," stated Lasse Outzen, Trailmakers Creative Director.

Starting with just the basics for making a vehicle -- a frame, wheels, a seat, and an engine -- players are given the tools and an intuitive interface to build their very first car. The only limit is a finite amount of resources that can only be bolstered through exploration. Roadblocks occur naturally in this world. The next checkpoint might be atop a steep hill, or across a large jump. Maybe it's time to strap six different engines on to the body of the vehicle? Or maybe the solution is adding wings?

There's never only one way to solve a problem. With more than 40 vehicle parts, including helicopter blades and suspension for off-roading, if players can dream it, they can build it.  A transformer part even enables vehicles to convert into other forms. Vehicle blueprints can be drafted and shared with friends, and Trailmakers is built to support player-made content at full release. Early Access is just the beginning -- new skins, vehicle parts, and multiplayer modes are already in the pipeline and will continue to debut as robust, frequent post-launch support.

The world in Trailmakers is an inherently dangerous place. To proceed in the expedition you need to continuously adjust your vehicle to overcome obstacles and conquer the environment. Play alone and see how far you can get, or join your friends for a fun co-op quest. In Trailmakers, the adventure is in the making.

Trailmakers is available for PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S and PC (Steam).
