'Foundry' Is A Factory-building/Automation Sandbox Game, Coming To Early Access Soon, Demo Available NOW - Screens & Trailer

by Rainier on Oct. 2, 2023 @ 12:10 p.m. PDT

Foundry is a voxel, procedurally generated factory-building simulation and automation sandbox game where players have the freedom to build the perfect factory of their imagination.

Foundryis a first-person factory building simulation set in an endless procedurally generated voxel world. Mine resources, craft machinery and automate your research to progress through the game. Face logistic challenges by planning and building a conveyor belt and pipe network. Manage a complex power system and expand your constantly growing production lines.

While you start small by crafting your first items and machines by hand, you will soon find yourself surrounded by a large sci-fi factory doing the work for you. You need to expand your factory by building more production lines, conveyor belts and pipes while keeping a stable power supply for your growing energy demands. By conducting research, you will unlock more advanced, complex and faster technology to optimize the design and maximize the output of your factory.

Every new game starts with a different procedurally generated voxel world. Each block can be destroyed and new blocks (terrain or buildings) can be placed to shape the worlds to fit your desires. Build your sprawling factory on a mountain, in the jungle or inside the deepest mine - everything is possible!

Foundrycan be played alone or cooperatively with friends. The multiplayer mode works over the internet as well as offline through LAN networking. There are currently no player limits for multiplayer, but we think the game is best played with 2-4 players.

“The overwhelmingly positive feedback we received from the Foundry Alpha on Itch.io was encouraging and highlighted the game's immense potential” declared Patrik Meder, Vice-president at Channel 3 Entertainment, "To fully realize this potential, it was essential to collaborate with the perfect partner. Being published by Paradox Interactive allows us to fulfill the vision and ambitions we have for Foundry“

“Foundry is a unique game that has already received positive feedback from early testers and we are very excited about this project. We are proud to work with Channel 3 Entertainment to bring the ultimate factory building simulation to players“ declared Sebastian Forsström, Executive Producer at Paradox Interactive.

“The game has most of its core gameplay mechanics implemented and we're mostly adding new content and in-depth gameplay mechanics on top. It currently provides about 15-25 hours of playtime, depending on your pacing and experience. Everything shown in our trailer and Steam store description is already implemented, explicitly: base building, conveyor belts, pipes, modifiable voxel world, research, crafting, a complex power grid system and various other smaller features. Singleplayer is very stable, multiplayer is a bit less stable, but most issues are minor and almost everything can be fixed by re-connecting to the server or re-hosting the game. Bug fixing has always priority over new features. At the time we launch on Steam we expect to have a bug-free and very stable version for both Single and Multiplayer.”

“We plan to release the full version with more content, more distinguishable mechanics, more polishing and comfort features. In detail: We want to bind the voxel world closer to the core gameplay, by adding more underground-mechanics like deep mining and all the things you might expect to discover buried in the depths of a planet. Our team intends to add more complex options to customize and control how your factory operates, like logic gates to create custom machine behavior. According to our plans, the game's content will be expanded with more crafting recipes, research and machines.
We want to gradually introduce mod-support on the way to the full release. We plan to add support for minor modding (e.g. change recipes, add new machines) and scale it up to allow in-depth modding.”

A new free demo for Foundry will be available on Steam from October 9 to October 16, during the Steam Next Fest with new and improved features and content.

Foundry is currently in development for PC (Steam).
