'Lies Of P' Reveals Game Update, Teases First DLC, Soundtrack Release, Sequel Planned - Trailer

by Rainier on Oct. 31, 2023 @ 5:26 p.m. PDT

Set in a cruel, dark Belle Époque world, Lies Of P is a Souls-like Action/RPG inspired by Carlo Collodi's classic Italian novel Pinocchio.

You wake up at an abandoned train station in Krat, a city overwhelmed by madness and bloodlust. In front of you lies a single note that reads:

"Find Mr. Geppetto. He's here in the city."

Built from the ground up using Unreal Engine 4, Lies Of P tells the story of Pinocchio like you’ve never seen it before. As Pinocchio himself, you must navigate through a dark Belle Epoque world where all of humanity is lost. The once beautiful city of Krat has become a living hell, and you must find the famed Mr. Geppetto to unravel the mystery of what happened to both yourself and the world around you.

As the puppet mechanoid Pinocchio, you will wind your way through the streets of a ruined city, crafting weapons from the materials you find in the world, and interacting with the remaining few who manage to survive in this pre-industrial hellscape. The more you lie, the more human you become, with all the advantages and disadvantages that it entails. But don't expect any help along the way and don't make the mistake of trusting anyone. A richly detailed crafting system, profound narrative choices, and deeply customizable character progression round out the RPG features in Lies of P.

NEOWIZ's Game Director Jiwon Choi catches players up on the state of Lies of P since its official launch on Sept. 19th and what to expect from the game in the near future including a sneak peek at the first DLC as well as details on the release of the official game soundtrack, and more.

After thanking fans for helping Lies of P surpass one million units sold in the first month, Choi goes on to discuss the upcoming balance patch for the game. Expected to arrive in November, the update brings significant changes to weapon and character balance, as well as quality-of-life changes to ease the difficulty in the early stages of the game.

To show the developers’ gratitude, players will also receive a new outfit, along with a new feature to equip glasses and hats separately for even greater freedom in character customization.

As another treat for players, Choi provides a short preview of the upcoming game content for Lies of P through never-before-seen sketches that tease a small portion of the content that will be available in the first DLC.

Key Features:

  • A Dark Fairytale Retold: The timeless tale of Pinocchio has been reimagined with dark and striking visuals.Set in the fallen city of Krat, Pinnochio desperately fights to become human against all odds.
  • Visual Concept: The city of Krat was insipired by the Belle Époque Era in Europe (late 19th Century to the early 20th Century) and is the epitome of a collapsed city bereft of prosperity.
  • 'Lying' Quests and Multiple Endings: Experience interconnected procedural quests that play out depending on how you lie. These choices will then affect how the story ends.
  • Weapon-Making System: You can combine weapons in a multitude of ways to create something new altogether. Research to find the best combinations and make something truly special.
  • Special Skill System: With Pinocchio being a doll, you can change parts of his body to gain new skills and hopefully an edge in battle. But not all of the enhancements are for fighting though, they can also provide several other unique and useful features.

Lies Of P is available for PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S (Xbox Game Pass at launch) and PC (Steam).
