Step out of retirement back into the life of crime in the shoes of the Payday Gang, the envy of their peers and the nightmare of law-enforcement wherever they go. Several years after the crew’s reign of terror over Washington DC has ended, they assemble once again to deal with the threat that roused them out of early retirement.

Payday 3 takes players to the city of unlimited possibilities - New York City.

The Payday Gang, consisting of Dallas, Hoxton, Wolf and Chains return from retirement, and find themselves in the Big Apple after an unknown threat appears, shattering the illusion of peacefully living on the “right” side of the law. As they say, “Leopards can’t change their spots”, and thanks to years of experience and a mysterious new player in the criminal underworld, they quickly get their hands on the first lucrative heists and leave their explosive calling card with the city's security and police forces.

Players will discover new ways to pull off the perfect heist thanks to new skills, gadgets and weapons while the Payday 3 storyline will continuously expand with new content and challenges.

Publisher Deep Silver and developer Starbreeze announced that Payday 3 is hosting a Technical Open Beta from Sept. 8 to 11. With one heist available for players to sneak or shoot through, players will be able to test their skills as Starbreeze tests its servers ahead of Payday 3’s launch.

The Technical Open Beta will not require a key and will be accessible to anyone. Players will be able to experience the same content as featured in the recent Closed Beta Test. The content shown during the open beta period is based on a prior game version from April 2023 and is not a final representation of Payday 3.

The Payday 3 Technical Open Beta will offer:

• The original gang: Dallas, Hoxton, Chains, and Wolf. The iconic clown-masked characters that made the Payday franchise infamous are all playable, each with their own unique skillset.
• Featured heist: "No Rest for the Wicked" will be the playable heist during the closed beta. Representative of classic Payday heists, “No Rest for the Wicked" tasks the players with liberating a small bank of the cash cluttering up their vault. Heisters can sneak through the building, “liberating” the bank’s cash, or go in guns blazing to get the full-on adrenaline rush of a big city bank robbery.
• All difficulties will be playable, level cap is Infamy Level 22 and Weapon Level Progression is maxed at 8.

The process itself will look like the following, using the Steam & Xbox beta programs:

• Steam: Visit the Payday 3 Store Page and press "Request Access" near the top of the page.
• Xbox: Go to the Xbox Insider Hub, navigate to previews, select PAYDAY 3.
