An extraterrestrial probe is detected approaching Earth. Unknown to humanity, an alien force has arrived in the far reaches of the icy Kuiper Belt and has begun mining a dwarf planet to prepare for an invasion.
With Earth’s nations unable to unite to address the alien arrival, transnational groups of like-minded political, military and scientific leaders develop covert channels to coordinate a response. With the aliens' motives uncertain, factions emerge, driven by hope, fear or greed.
Gain command over Earth's nations...
...and take humanity’s first steps in colonizing our Solar System...
...where over 300 asteroids, moons and planets in constant motion create an ever-changing strategic map.
With the unexpected arrival of an extraterrestrial force breaching our Solar System, humanity has fractured. Unable to develop a united response to the impending invasion, rival factions emerge, each with their own philosophies, goals, and desires when it comes to the mysterious interlopers. Players must lead one of these groups and utilize their unique strengths in the struggle for control over Earth’s resources as you prepare for the ultimate fight to control the future of humanity. Will you serve your new alien overlords, fight to maintain human supremacy, or instead venture forth into the stars and leave these petty squabbles behind?
Bridging the gap between the familiar terrain of Earth and the far reaches of the Solar System, Terra Invicta elevates the themes of the alien invasion plot and turns everything up to 11. The campaign begins as a terrestrial game of geopolitical chess where players must strategically vie for control of the planet’s nations and resources. As faction leaders, players will weigh the benefits and consequences of their actions, but how the upper hand is gained is completely up to them.
From there, players must gather support, resources, and take the fight into space with orbital stations, remote bases, and space fleets. As players take their first steps in colonizing the Solar System, they must prepare for the wars to come.
Even with the entire Solar System within arm’s reach, confrontation is unavoidable. On the one-hand, age-old interhuman conflicts extend out into the stars, while on the other, a legion of alien invaders want to claim Earth as their own. Players will utilize alien tech and human ingenuity to build fleets of armed spaceships and develop tactical doctrines. Combat has been built around a realistic simulation of Newtonian physics, where momentum is just as critical as firepower. Growing alien activity on Earth will present difficult choices as the invasion spreads worldwide.
Currently available through Steam Early Access and PC Game Pass for for $39.99 / £34.99 / €39.99 / ¥4,980, Hooded Horse announced that the latest major patch for Terra Invicta is here.
Update 0.4 makes a wide range of changes, from a reorganization of the geopolitical layer, to a rework of tech tree, and other quality-of-life features to spaceships, such as officers and new modules.
For those who enjoy competing for control over the nations of the world, the early portion of the game will look significantly different as plenty of regions have been split up, with several new countries emerging, and some larger ones broken up into more regions. India and China have been reorganized and nations such as Switzerland have emerged, to name a few of the changes made. The world will literally never be the same!
Ships can now gain officers as a form of “reward”, based on triggering conditions and a successful die roll. There are 15 types of officers in total, and each can advance three levels. For example, a ship can gain or promote a gunnery officer when it gets a kill with gun-type weaponry. There are also new modules, reworked internal damage mechanics, and particle weaponry has been completely overhauled.
Other major changes in the patch include:
- A rework of the tech tree, including consolidating similar techs into one
- Changes to terrestrial warfare
- A rework of greenhouse gas generation
- Comets are now a thing – you can explore and develop these like you can asteroids
- The invaders get Tier-3 technology
- Changes to mission frequency over time
Note that the update will break any existing saves, however the 0.3 version of the game will be kept running on a separate branch.
The game is available at a 30% discount via Steam from now until April 28.

Terra Invicta is built with modding support in mind, and much of the game is accessible to modders without a coding background. We hope that the Solar System setting and geopolitics simulation will provide a useful framework for modders to realize their own creative visions.
