A new tale of the Kami awaits.

This labor of love follows in the tradition of truly unique titles such as Okami and Shinsekai – Into the Depths.

Witness an epic clash between the spirit realm and mortal man, as the villagers fight to cleanse the holy mountain on which they live. Foul creatures called the Seethe have besieged the mountain, drawn to the defilement that has spread throughout the villages. To purify the land and seal away the Seethe, the Spirit Stone Maiden must perform a rite of cleansing—but she requires a guide to clear her path.

As the protagonist Soh, it is the player’s duty to rescue villagers and restore peace along with the Maiden of the mountain, Yoshiro, by purging the defilement that infects their land on Mt. Kafuku. 

Kunitsu-Gami: Path of the Goddess incorporates a unique real-time day to night cycle. During the day, the player’s strategy skills are put to the test as they deliberately plan to purge the defiled village by rescuing villagers, assigning roles to them, and fixing their defensive contraptions to prepare for an imminent battle. As night falls, it’s time to fight against the horrific Seethe that emerge from the Torii gates and aim to attack Yoshiro. Players must harness their combative skills as they defend the Maiden, adapt to the everchanging battle conditions, fight alongside the villagers, and use the power of Soh’s dance-like sword techniques. Enjoy a fusion of real-time strategy and exhilarating action by repeating this day-to-night cycle in order to purge the defilement and restore the land’s peace with Soh and Yoshiro.

In celebration of the free demo’s release, Kunitsu-Gami: Path of the Goddess held a special collaboration with Capcom’s classic 2006 title Okami along with a special challenge! Today, players successfully completed the collaboration challenge and unlocked free Okami gifts in the game that will be downloadable at launch across all available platforms. Additionally, the official Kunitsu-Gami: Path of the Goddess theme song, sung by popular Japanese singer and songwriter ermhoi, was released along with a new trailer showcasing more of the game’s eccentric beauties.

The Okami and Kunitsu-Gami: Path of the Goddess collaboration gifted players exclusive content, including the Amaterasu costume and weapon for Soh as well as the Waka costume for Yoshiro, plus a special Okami collab soundtrack for the game. Together, players were able to successfully complete the challenges of obtaining 1 billion crystals and finding 15 hidden Lucky Mallets in the Kunitsu-Gami: Path of the Goddess free demo, which is still available across Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, Windows, PS4, PS5 and Steam.

The game’s theme song, “Kunitsu-Gami,” composed by Chikara Aoshima and sung by ermhoi, pulls together the game’s themes of masks, defilement, spirits, and sins that reflect the world of Kunitsu-Gami: Path of the Goddess. This official theme song is created with the feel of a children’s song based within the in-game universe, passed down from generation to generation. The meticulously crafted rhythmic patterns, tempo, sound, and arrangement grow rougher as the song progresses. Composer Chikara Aoshima also composed all of the music in Capcom’s 2019 hit Shinsekai: Into the Depths.

Singer songwriter ermhoi said: “The story of ‘Kunitsu-Gami: Path of the Goddess’ is a tale of battling defilement, insecurity, and fear. I hope this song will be like a talisman for you in such a battle. Please enjoy the nostalgic melody by Chikara Aoshima.”

Composer/Drummer Chikara Aoshima said: “We created a song suitable by traditional Japanese children’s songs and nursery rhymes that was suitably sung by ermhoi, who has a fragile yet fantastic voice. We hope that you will be able to contemplate the chaos of this world with this music.”
