A single-player rail logistics puzzle game about building a network and keeping it moving, Cargo Lines has you lay the track between stations, dispatch the trains and decide where the line goes next, while new orders arrive and their deadlines tick down.
Developed for players who like planning more than reacting, the game lets you send trains to each station at the click of a button; the track layout deciding what happens next, A run takes roughly 20 minutes, and the game is optimized for Steam Deck, making it perfect for a short session on the couch. Relaxed mode has no order deadlines and grades delivered wagons only, making it the entry point for children and for players who want a puzzle without a clock. Challenge mode puts every order on a countdown and is for players who prefer some pressure.
The real challenge comes from finding the perfect trade-off rather than completing each scenario as quickly as possible. Every region changes the terms with an obstacle and its matching upgrade - with a river, a herd of cattle or heavy snowfall turning the core loop into a different puzzle. Track is scarce, convoys are rated on their length, and weekly modifiers ask the same question in a new form: will you spend resources to unlock more track, more orders, or an extra wagon, or will you invest in the countermeasure the current region demands. Each region is a fixed-length mini-campaign and completing it with a good rating unlocks the next one on the world map.
The Cargo Lines demo lets players get a glimpse of what the full game will offer. Both the relaxed and challenge modes are available from the start, with a handful of updates, tracks, and trains to work with over one of the 11 maps from the main game.
Key Features:
- Dynamic Strategy: Build, upgrade, and optimize your network. Use dynamite to clear obstacles, construct bridges over rivers and tunnels through mountains.
- 11 Unique Maps: Tackle a variety of challenges, from navigating rivers to dealing with animals on the line, wind and weather, deteriorating railways, and tight deadlines.
- Two Game Modes:
- Standard Time Trial: Fulfill orders before the deadline in a high-pressure environment.
- Relaxed Mode: Play at your own pace with no time limits.
- Upgrade System: Every week you have to decide on upgrades for your operation. Do you need more railway tracks? Can you handle some extra deliveries? Do your trains need stronger engines or maybe a fence or cowcatcher for those pesky buffalo? That bridge looks awfully useful, too. Or maybe a tunnel, some dynamite, or a new water tower? Decisions, decisions.
Cargo Lines is coming to PC/Linux (Steam) on November 27, 2026 at $11.99, €11.49, £9.69.
