Powered by Unreal Engine 5, Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, or ‘Expedition 33,’ is an innovative reactive turn-based RPG with immersive real-time offensive and defensive commands to enhance combat, making battles more engaging than ever. Players will master their offensive skills and magical abilities, dodge, parry and counter enemy assaults in real time, and target enemy weak points using a ranged free-aim system to overcome seemingly overwhelming odds. Today marks the 1st anniversary of the release of Clair Obscur: Expedition 33!

Since its release last year, Expedition 33 has won over fans who have fallen in love with its Belle Époque-inspired world and beloved characters, its unforgettable music, and its stunning artistry. To celebrate Today’s anniversary, Sandfall Interactive and Kepler Interactive have announced several new releases and milestones to celebrate alongside the community, including:

• New Anniversary Artwork Revealed – a brand-new commemorative artwork celebrating the first anniversary was released Today. Created by Expedition 33’s Art Director Nicholas Maxson-Francombe, fans can also pick up prints of the new artwork via the IGN Store Today.
• Download the Free Game Update – Sandfall Interactive have released a free minor game Patch v1.5.5 update on all platforms that includes a new Anniversary haircut for each playable character. To access the new haircuts, players must purchase them from Gestral merchants in the game world. Today’s update also includes some minor bug fixes and enhancements – more information can be found on the game’s official Steam page.
• Announcing New Milestones – to date, Expedition 33 has sold over 8 million units globally. Furthermore, the game was the most downloaded new third-party release on Xbox Game Pass in 2025 (via Xbox), meaning even more players around the world have been able to fall in love with the game’s incredible, fantasy world. Additionally, the game’s award-winning original soundtrack has been streamed digitally over 617 million times since release (or 645 million times including the ‘Nos vies en Lumière’ and ‘Verso’s Drafts’ soundtracks), as well as securing multiple extraordinary chart positions, including six #1 Spots in the Official Album Charts (UK), #2 in French and German Album Charts, six Top 5 spots in the Billboard Album Charts (USA), and more.

• New Merchandise Revealed – Sandfall Interactive have also announced several new merchandise collaborations Today, including new apparel with Le Béret Français and Orcival.
