Play Solo or Squads - the choice is yours. In either mode, you’ll face off against the best of the best in Knockout Tournaments on legendary streetball courts, stacking up the W's to become the GOAT of THE RUN. Gameplay is fast, fluid and perfectly responsive thanks to the game’s true rollback netcode system, ensuring smooth online play that makes every trick, signature block and high flying alley-oop all the more satisfying. Announcing all the action will be Bobbito Garcia -- legendary DJ, author, and iconic video game voice adding his endless energy, enthusiasm and original sazón to every call.

In NBA The Run, you’ll play as some of your favorite current NBA stars along with fictional streetball legends, going to legendary streetball courts spanning the globe including Venice Beach, and The Tenement in Taguig, Philippines. Every last detail is handcrafted – the players, the courts and every single hand-keyed animation come together to deliver a truly curated experience that puts NBA The Run in a lane of its own.

At the heart of NBA THE RUN is the Run the World Tournament, a four-round Knockout tournament where teams of 3 will be going head-to-head on iconic streetball courts around the world. Each tournament ends with a championship game at one of four specially designated finals courts, where you’ll square off for the Run the World trophy and the ultimate bragging rights. 

There are three game modes coming at launch, including:

• Knockout Squads - Play on a Squad of 3. You control 1 player on the Squad, fill out your team with friends / other players and find the competition.
• Knockout Solos - Build your own Team of 3. You control your team and go head to head against other players and their teams of 3.
• Knockout Friends - Your own Private Tournament. Play alone against the AI, crew up w/ friends against the AI, or go head to head against anyone you want to invite in (up to 48 players at Launch).

At launch, players will take to the courts as one of 30+ NBA stars, along with 5 fictional streetball legends, each with different playstyles, and each uniquely handcrafted and stylized. Gameplay is fast, fluid and responsive, powered by true rollback netcode, ensuring every crossover, dive for loose ball and alley oop syncs simultaneously for every player in a seamless online experience.

Play by Play Studios, the National Basketball Association (NBA) and the National Basketball Players Association (NBPA) announced an open beta for NBA THE RUN, playable May 30, 2026, from 10am PDT - 6pm PDT on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam.

This marks the first time the 3v3 streetball game featuring NBA stars will be playable on consoles, with cross-play fully enabled. Check out the new trailer now and download the game on your preferred platform on Saturday - no sign ups or codes required!

Here’s a breakdown of what’s going to be included in this weekend’s test:

• Game Modes: Play as one player on a team of three in Knockout Squads, or control your entire team of three in Knockout Solos
• NBA Players: In this test, players will have access to the following NBA superstars:Giannis Antetokounmpo, Scottie Barnes, LaMelo Ball, Jalen Brunson, Stephen Curry, Anthony Davis, Luka Dončić , Kevin Durant, Anthony Edwards, Cooper Flagg, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, LeBron James, Damian Lillard, Donovan Mitchell, Ja Morant and Victor Wembanyama
• Street Legends: Destiny “DJ” Jackson
• Advanced Dunks & Tricks: Make sure to express themselves on the court, trying out four different advanced dunks and taunts.
• New Tricks & Moves: Speaking of expression, you’ll also get to see and feel the initial implementation of style moves in the game – including crossovers, Shammgods, Slip ‘N Slides, and more.

NBA The Run is launching with two editions – the Standard Edition will be available for $29.99, while the Deluxe Edition will be available for $39.99, and includes three additional unlocked playable characters (Stephen Curry Golden State Warriors ‘09 Rookie Variant, Luka Dončić Dallas Mavericks ‘18 Rookie Variant, and Kevin Durant  Seattle Supersonics ‘07 Rookie Variant), plus 1000 CRED, the in-game currency that players can use to purchase items in the shop, including alternate jerseys, dunk animations, taunts, badges, banners, and more.
