The ultimate space battle PvP experience.
Captain frigates, pilot fighters, and man the guns. In the forgotten arenas of space, communication with your crew is key.
Victory or death, together.
Stars of Icarus is the continuation of a decade-long legacy. Guns of Icarus Online pioneered the crew-based PvP airship experience back in 2012. Stars of Icarus is the next chapter, providing a modernized experience of the classic multiplayer PvP experience.
Form a crew of five to face off against each other. Choose your ship, join your squadron, customize your loadout, and become the Frontier’s most lethal crew. Will you master the stars or go out in a blaze of glory?
The playtest for Stars Of Icarus will run from July 16 - August 3 via Steam.
Playtesters can dive into the Cleaved Canyons and Keyport Station maps and access the new Cargo King gamemode, where they’ll battle for control of a cargo ship and outnumber their opponents to maintain supremacy. Use the map to predict the ship’s path and lay traps, and stay in formation to avoid getting picked off.
Also arriving with this playtest are expanded 8v8 servers, all-new tutorials, and countless bug fixes and improvements. This is on top of everything introduced in previous playtests - new ship types, maps, player-owned lobbies, and more.
With the launch window revised from 2026 to Q1 2027, players might have slightly longer to wait, but can help shape the finished product by joining the playtest and giving feedback. They can also enjoy the above new trailer, captured with footage from the growing Stars Of Icarus community.
The playtest culminates in a community tournament on August 1, where you and your crew can prove you are truly without equal on the celestial battleground. Sign ups are available on the Stars of Icarus Discord.
In every pre-game lobby, you’ll get to select from six ships and over 25 variations of fleet formations. Choose between solo fighters, two-seater corvettes or bring in the big guns with a three-manned frigate. Each arena adds its own twists and turns to your engagements with dynamic environments. Use your team’s experience to your advantage or fall victim to their unforgiving nature.
Within your ship, you’ll need to choose your specialty. Whether you take responsibility for navigating the cosmic fog, manning the cannons to wipe out enemy ships, or ensuring the shields and engines hold – when the ship goes down, the crew goes down with it. Customize your character loadouts to hold specialist tools to ensure you can get the job done.
Master a variety of engineering tools, arm your ship with different weapons and ammo types, and experiment with a range of ship skills and jump drives depending on your fleet composition. Access the full armory of weapons and equipment from the get-go, and discover your favorite loadout. No grinding. No pay-to-win.
Enjoy Stars of Icarus in your own way - jump into competitive modes or kick back for the evening to hang out with friends in custom lobbies and servers. Tell tales of your narrow escape from enemy fire, drifting through asteroid fields with half an engine and a broken antenna.
