'Tom Clancy's The Division 2' Rolls Out Y8S3: Red Horizon Update, Crossplay Update In November, Reveals Echoes of Central Park DLC

by Rainier on Aug. 27, 2026 @ 3:04 p.m. PDT

Tom Clancy's The Division 2 is a shooter RPG with campaign, co-op, and PvP modes that offers more variety in missions and challenges, new progression systems with twists and surprises, and fresh innovations that offer new ways to play.

Seven months have passed since a deadly virus hit New York City and the rest of the world, crippling the population. When the virus hit, The Division, a unit of civilian sleeper agents, was activated as the last line of defense. Since then, Division agents have been fighting relentlessly to save what remains.
For The Division, the stakes are higher than ever. Washington, D.C. – the most heavily protected city on earth – is at risk, leaving the entire nation on the brink of collapse. If Washington, D.C., is lost, then the nation falls. As a Division agent who has been in the field for seven months, you and your team are the last hope to stop the fall of society after the pandemic collapse.

Tom Clancy's The Division 2 is an online open world, action shooter RPG experience set in a collapsing and fractured Washington, D.C. This rich new setting combines a wide variety of beautiful, iconic, and realistic environments where the player will experience the series' trademark for authenticity in world building, rich RPG systems, and fast-paced action like never before. Play solo or co-op with a team of up to four players to complete a wide range of activities, from the main campaign and adversarial PvP matches to the Dark Zone – where anything can happen.

The Division 2 Year 8 Season 3, Red Horizon, is now live, introducing the Cleaners to Washington, D.C. for the first time and expanding the faction's presence beyond New York City.

The new season adds seasonal modifiers, updated Dark Zone experiences, new Classified Assignments, gear and rewards, while Ubisoft also confirmed that crossplay is coming in November.

The arrival of the Cleaners drives the season's central conflict, with players facing Cleaner-controlled activities across the open world and a new Elite Kill Squad known as 95 Company.

The Cleaners Have Reached Washington, D.C.

Previously confined to New York City, the Cleaners are now operating throughout Washington, D.C. during Red Horizon. They'll appear in open-world activities, take over Control Points, participate in Retaliations, and bring a new Elite Kill Squad called 95 Company into the fight.

Crossplay Arrives in November

Crossplay is coming to The Division 2 in November. Additional details will be shared at a later date, but the announcement marks one of the season's biggest long-term updates.

Dark Zones Continue to Evolve

The PvE-focused Toxic Dark Zones introduced in Into the Dark are becoming a permanent part of the rotation with reduced toxicity mechanic and a greater emphasis on cooperative survival. Red Horizon also introduces a new Blackout Dark Zone where gear normalization is disabled, allowing players to use the full power of their SHD Watch, Expertise levels, and Prototype gear.

New Seasonal Gameplay and Content

Red Horizon introduces a new modifier system centered around a Pressure Gauge that rewards aggressive play and activates powerful buffs. The season also adds two Classified Assignments. The District Mall Inferno is under attack from Cleaners, and a fellow SHD Agent needs backup to complete his mission and make it out unscathed. The second Classified Assignment, the Georgetown Dead Zone, will go live later this season.

New gear such as the Ember Engine Gear Set, the Loaded for Bear Exotic gloves, and additional Season Pass rewards are also coming to help you fight the Cleaners and retake Washing D.C.

Twitch Drops Available Through September 3

Players can earn free in-game rewards by watching eligible The Division 2 Twitch streams through September 3. Rewards unlock progressively based on watch time, starting with the Witness Arm Patch after 30 minutes, followed by a Named Cache at 1 hour, the Renewal Arm Patch at 2 hours, an Exotic Cache at 3 hours, and the Aftermath Weapon Skin after 4 hours of viewing.

At Gamescom, Ubisoft also briefly shared information about its upcoming DLC, Echoes of Central Park.

The Division has a special connection with New York City, but there’s one iconic place that we haven’t explored yet – Central Park. Echoes of Central Park is rooted in Mystery and Fear and will explore a darker tone, as the Upper West Side is petrified with fear.

Division Agents will come to Central Park to answer a distress call coming from inside the park. Agents have no idea what’s inside, or what happened there since the outbreak.

As a Division Agent, you’ll have to untangle the mysteries, and find help to prepare and finally be able to enter the park and face what’s inside.

This DLC gives the Division team an opportunity to explore a different type of enemy for the Division … Fear.

Exploring the themes of horror and fear, while remaining true to the Clancy identity of The Division was a very interesting and exciting challenge, and an opportunity to bring something new to the brand.

The intent wasn’t to just another story DLC, as the devs wanted to have a stronger focus on gameplay.

Ubisoft will reveal more details about the Echoes of Central Park DLC on September 24, 2026.

In Tom Clancy’s The Division 2 Warlords of New York, Division Agents will go on the ultimate manhunt for Aaron Keener, a former Division Agent who has now gone rogue. Keener, along with his network of Rogue Agents, is now a major threat to the burgeoning rebirth of civilization. To track down Keener, Agents will roam the untamed living open world of Lower Manhattan; a former Dark Zone that was recently hit by a devastating hurricane that hit New York City harder than anywhere else in the US. Agents are tasked to explore new zones, each with iconic locations such as Two Bridges, Chinatown, and Wall Street. To get to Keener, players must take down each of his Rogue Agents.  Each Rogue Agent has their own unique back story and skill – which you gain once you take them down.

After taking the time to hear and gather community feedback, core gameplay enhancements have been implemented across various topics such as build diversity, gear streamlining and even more meaningful loot.

Along with The Division 2 Warlords of New York, Title Update 8 will include an RPG overhaul, allowing players to better read and manage their gear inventory. The UI screen will be updated to always show the roll ranges for each stat on a piece of gear or weapon. The overhaul also includes the return of god rolls, improving readability and helping players make better decisions on the gear’s usefulness to their build. Additionally, players will see a more streamlined gear recalibration system, with item and stat usefulness indicators, as well as permanent attribute and stat storage at the recalibration station. This will allow Agents the flexibility to plan the perfect build.

The existing Dark Zones in The Division 2 are also being revitalized, returning to a simpler rogue mechanic. The focus is on rewarding player-to-player interaction, whether it's fighting against each other or helping a fellow Agent against a tough Rogue player.

In The Division 2 Warlords of New York, the players’ level cap will increase from Level 30 to Level 40, but it doesn’t stop there. The Division 2 Warlords of New York is also introducing an infinite progression system, the SHD level, and 4 new skills that can be used throughout the game. Owners of the expansion will also get access to new gear and new weapons.

Warlords of New York is a narrative-driven expansion for Tom Clancy’s The Division 2 and available on Xbox One, PS4, PC and Ubisoft’s subscription service UPLAY+.
