'No Rest for the Wicked' Needs More Time, v1.0 Release On PS5 And PC Delayed Until March 2027 - Trailer

by Rainier on Sept. 1, 2026 @ 10:11 a.m. PDT

No Rest for the Wicked is a mature, precision Action Role-Playing Game that is poised to reinvent the genre.

No Rest for the Wicked introduces a hand-crafted world, rich in details and with an inimitable, “painting” art style. Players explore an intricate and vast island called Isola Sacra that allows them to experience verticality in a way that is unmatched in other ARPGs with spelunking depths of crypts, lush forests, and treacherous mountain passes. Each location is home to complex protagonists with their own problems, hidden treasures, ferocious creatures, and secrets to discover.

With No Rest for the Wicked’s brutal, precision-based combat system, Moon Studios is pushing the envelope on the art of combat. Fights in the game are animation-driven, direct, and tactile, allowing skilled players to combine visceral strikes and deadly moves. This innovative combat system results in a highly satisfying gameplay experience that is unique in isometric ARPGs, where skill and timing is required over simple “button-mashing.”

No Rest for the Wicked’s painterly art direction and brutal combat is complemented by a dark, mature narrative: In the year 841, a pivotal moment dawns upon the kingdom, marked by the passing of King Harol Bolein. A devastating conflict arises when a peaceful transition of power devolves into chaos. In addition to this political turmoil, a deadly plague has reemerged on the remote island of Sacra, twisting the land and its inhabitants. Players must brandish their arms in an effort to quell both the grotesque beasts and the Kingdom’s invading army throughout a turbulent atmosphere where they are pulled in every direction.

In No Rest for the Wicked’s multiplayer mode players can share their world and progress with up to three friends by their side in the campaign’s online co-op mode. Every quest, boss, and square foot of Isola Sacra is theirs to share with others…or they can simply venture off and do as they please.

Developer Moon Studios announced that No Rest for the Wicked, is being moved from its previously announced October 2026 v1.0 launch window to March 2027.

The added development time will allow the team at Moon to improve gameplay performance, tighten the class system and polish the game to the standard itdeserves. As an added make-good, the team plans to hold additional closed beta tests in the months ahead followed by an open beta in December, allowing the community to provide feedback during a crucial stretch of development. Follow the game’s social channels for additional info on those betas in the near future.

"Hey Wicked fans,

We have some important news, and we want to be honest with you. No Rest for the Wicked's 1.0 launch is moving from October 2026 to March 2027.

We share your excitement for the October launch, and we've felt the encouragement from every corner of the world. Thank you so much for that.

The honest truth is that we're a small team, and we're holding our games to a standard we won't compromise on. We're close, but close isn't good enough for our full 1.0 launch. The extra time will help us improve performance, tighten the class system, and polish the whole game to the standard you all deserve. We'd rather take a few more months than ship something that we know isn’t quite perfect yet.

This extra time also means more closed and open beta tests in the coming months, which means you, our community, can get your hands on it and help us shape the final 1.0 build.

We will have an open beta test in December. We’ll keep communicating on our official social channels about this.

We'll share more over the coming weeks. For now, a few key points:

  1. Everyone on Steam who purchased No Rest for the Wicked before January 1st, 2027 will receive founders pack rewards, as a thank you for backing us through Early Access.
  2. PlayStation pre-orders open in January 2027, so PlayStation players will get a chance to earn the Founder’s rewards at that time.
  3. We will schedule a Wicked Inside for our players very soon. More on this on our socials.

Thank you for continuing to stick with us and being as passionate as you are, it genuinely means everything.

Love,
Moon Studios Team"

Previously, Moon Studios also shared that early buyers would receive the Founders Pack, a special set of in-game items as thanks for their incredible support. The original cutoff date for purchasing the game and earning that Founders Pack was July 10. That cutoff date has now been moved to January 1, 2027 for PC players, with anyone who purchased after July 10 retroactively included. PS5 pre-orders will begin in January, allowing those players to earn the Founders Pack then.

The Founders Pack includes:

  • A New Secret Hideout: Spirit Cavern – The legacy of Moon Studios now lives inside No Rest for the Wicked. A hand-crafted home that bridges both worlds.
  • Sayer’s Vow: An all new Sword in the stone that only early adopters can extract in the game world.
  • A Custom Founders Tag ensures players are clearly identified as early adopters.
  • As a Founder member, players will get access to an exclusive Public Beta Test Realm reserved just for them, even after the 1.0 game launch.

The full 1.0 release will be a massive expansion of the core No Rest for the Wicked experience, offering a vastly expanded breadth of content for both solo players and multiplayer lovers. It introduces a staggering 60+ hours of new content, a new horde mode, powerful new weapons, bosses and enemies, new areas and a completely reimagined class system, culminating in one of the most expansive soulslike action-RPGs to date.

  • Sprawling New Areas: Explore the full game's 15+ hand-crafted regions filled with secrets, terrifying bosses, and intricate pathways.
  • Increased Gameplay Flexibility and Deep Progression: An all-new class and progression system allows players to fine-tune their Cerim warrior to their exact style. Two players using the exact same weapon will play nothing alike.
  • Persistent Multiplayer: Players can share their journey in free private realms where the world evolves even when the realm’s original creator is offline.
  • Final Story Arc: Politics. Revenge. Passion. The ending players have been theorizing about since 2024, including tons of hand crafted cinematic scenes will be part of 1.0 and it is worth every hour players have put into the Sacra.
  • Endgame Content & Replayability: Players will test their skills in challenging new endgame activities designed for the most dedicated warriors.
  • Crossplay & Cross-save: Full Crossplay and Cross-Save between PC and Console at launch.

Key Features:

  • Hone combat skills with a system that challenges you to be deliberate and strategic. Battle against gruesome creatures, enemy soldiers, and punishing bosses in tense, visceral combat. Feel the weight and speed of each weapon through their own move sets. Enchant armaments with runes, craft rare armor, and create bespoke character builds that fit your playstyle.
  • Discover a mature, dark narrative on the harsh shores of Isola Sacra. Cunning rulers and ferocious rebels vie for the throne – all while an ancient plague sweeps across the land, turning its inhabitants into monstrous versions of themselves.
  • Explore a painting come to life – take in the striking painterly world, meticulously built with an incredible attention to detail in a unique, ageless art style. Beauty radiates in every frame, from the dappled sunlight of the Lowland Meadows to the viscera-smeared, twisted shadows of the Nameless Pass. Each new location is home to its own people, problems, hidden treasures, and secrets to unearth.
  • Take respite in the town of Sacrament – purchase property and decorate it to make it your own. Fish on the shores, till and harvest the land for ingredients to create meals that replenish health and boost stats. Acquaint yourself with the diverse array of vendors and townsfolk and restore Sacrament to its former glory.
  • Share your world and progress with up to three friends by your side in the campaign’s online co-op mode. Every quest, boss, and square foot of Isola Sacra is theirs to share with you…or they can simply venture off and do as they please.

Currently available Steam Early Access, No Rest for the Wicked is coming to PS5 and PC (Steam) in March 2027, followed by Nintendo Switch 2 and Xbox Series X|S at a later time.
