Play alone or with friends to explore massive biomes, defeat brutal monsters, create new builds, survive the mysterious Crowns and overthrow the almighty Abyss King in this action rogue-lite adventure from the creators of Hyper Light Drifter.

Hyper Light Breaker is neither a sequel nor a prequel to Hyper Light Drifter. It is set in the universe of Hyper Light and is its own story. It will share threads, aesthetics, lore and other recognizable elements, but is a new game driven by new designs.

This time, you won't be traveling alone through our range of lush though deadly landscapes. You'll be able to play alone or with friends online cooperatively! There will be more hidden truths about the world to uncover, an ever-shifting landscape, and tremendous rewards for exploration.

After laying off a batch of employees in 2025, Hyper Light Breaker developer Heart Machine is facing more uncertainty after a publisher backed out, resulting in nearly all of it's employees getting fired.

I have very difficult news today.

We had been working on an unannounced title, funded by a publisher. This week, they decided to no longer move forward with it. Without this key income for the studio, any other immediate prospects or other funds, nearly everyone at the studio had to be laid off. It's devastating.

Everyone will be provided with as much support as possible, including assisting with placement. If you know of any roles for extraordinarily talented, kind people, please reach out and we will coordinate.

Navigating an increasingly challenging industry has been extremely difficult, and I’m not sure yet what’s next for Heart Machine to survive. However, we'll keep pushing to build a path while we are still here.
