'Firva: Strings Of Fate' Is A AA-Looking Story-Driven Action/Adventure On A $200K Budget, Demo Coming Soon - Screens & Trailer

by Rainier on Sept. 22, 2026 @ 3:10 p.m. PDT

Firva: Strings Of Fate is a story-driven action-adventure set in a dark fantasy world, blending cinematic storytelling, atmospheric exploration, and old-school melee combat with a modern edge.

Embark on a journey of revenge, uncovering the secrets behind her past and the mysterious Strings of Fate.

Step into the unforgiving world of Firva: Strings of Fate, a cinematic action-adventure where you control the action but never the destiny. Play as Firva, a tongueless warrior bound to a path she cannot escape. Guided by a mysterious narrator, her journey unfolds through shifting perspectives, revealing new layers of truth, memory, and illusion.

Set in the dark fantasy realm of Ramirtana, this is a story shaped by fate, trauma, and forces far beyond human understanding. You cannot change what is written, but you will feel every moment of it.

Combat in Firva is simple to learn yet offers hidden depths of mastery.

Master a system built around:

  • Precise dodges
  • Timed parries
  • Aggressive combos

Enemies are relentless, and mistakes are costly. Every encounter feels like a duel, demanding focus, timing, and control.

As the journey progresses, combat evolves, culminating in intense, psychologically charged boss encounters that test both skill and perception. You’ll need to explore the balance between attacking and avoiding damage, and perfect your timing to take advantage of your opponents’ weaknesses.

Firva is a self-made warrior, forged by isolation and survival in a ruthless natural world. Raised among animals, she learned to endure but never to belong. On the surface, she appears cold, even merciless. Yet beneath that exterior lies something far more complex. Her bond with a mysterious ancestral bow pulls her into a journey of revenge that reaches beyond fate itself. As she ventures deeper into Ramirtana, she begins to uncover fragments of a past that refuses to stay buried. Accompanied by her wolf companion, Firva must navigate a world where gods, destiny, and reality collide and where every answer only leads to more questions.

There was a time that developers always tacked about "Indie Apocalypse", so is it finally happening ?

Are we entering an era where small teams can build games that once required far bigger studios ? and if so, are we about to drown in them?

What happens when a small independent team tries to capture the cinematic feel of a AA action-adventure, without a AA budget?

That's the challenge behind Firva: Strings of Fate (Part 1), a story-driven dark fantasy action-adventure currently in development for PC.

With a production budget of under $200,000, our small team of 5 full time members has spent the past two years building a cinematic adventure combining exploration, environmental puzzles, platforming, melee combat, handcrafted set pieces, and approximately 40 minutes of cinematic sequences. An undertaking that, not long ago, would have demanded a considerably larger team and budget.

We don't know whether the way Firva was made represents the beginning of an “indie apocalypse” — an era in which small teams, working with limited budgets and an expanding ecosystem of accessible tools, can produce games that increasingly resemble AA productions — or whether Firva is simply one small team's overly ambitious dream.

But one thing is becoming increasingly clear: the barriers are coming down. The kind of cinematic game development that was once almost exclusively within the reach of larger studios is becoming increasingly accessible to smaller teams.

We may not be able to match the scale, resources, or polish of established AA studios today, tomorrow, or even next year. But the gap is beginning to narrow — and technology, accessible development tools, and new production methods are increasingly working in favor of small teams willing to be ambitious.

Firva is our attempt to see just how far that can go.

This October, players will finally be able to judge for themselves when Firva's playable demo arrives for Steam Next Fest.

A fixed, cinematic camera guides your perspective, emphasizing emotion, tension, and scale. From quiet, reflective scenes to intense, breathtaking set pieces, the experience is designed to be seen, not just played.

Unable to speak, her story is told through action, animation, and the world around her. Her journey is not just one of survival, but of confronting past mistakes through the only language she knows: violence. Experience the world through Firva's eyes and ears, as a warrior trying to fix her past mistakes with only the method she knows; the Revenge. Become the Mute Warrior, Survive and outsmart the many enemies looking for your bow, and find out about the mysteries behind its origin.

From dense, haunting jungles to forgotten ruins and dreamlike landscapes, Ramirtana is filled with hidden paths, environmental storytelling, and secrets waiting to be uncovered.

Firva: Strings of Fate is a character-driven story about:

  • Revenge and consequence
  • Fate versus free will
  • Trauma and identity

With dynamic narration and layered storytelling, each moment reveals new perspectives inviting you to question what is real, and what is inevitable.

Key Features:

  • Combat — Explains the simple-to-learn combat system, centered on dodging, parrying, and aggressive combos, with increasingly demanding encounters and psychologically intense boss fights.
  • The world and premise — Introduces Firva: Strings of Fate as a cinematic action-adventure where Firva can control her actions but is ultimately bound by destiny. It establishes the dark-fantasy setting of Ramirtana and the themes of fate, trauma, memory, and illusion.
  • Firva's character — Describes Firva as a self-made warrior raised among animals and shaped by isolation and survival. Her mysterious ancestral bow draws her into a revenge-driven journey, while her wolf companion accompanies her through a world involving gods, destiny, and reality.
  • Cinematic presentation — Describes the fixed cinematic camera and the game's emphasis on emotion, tension, scale, quiet moments, and large set pieces.
  • The Mute Warrior — Focuses on Firva's inability to speak and how her story is communicated through her actions, animation, and surroundings. Violence becomes the primary way she confronts her past.
  • The bow / enemies / mystery — Presents the player's role as the “Mute Warrior,” surviving and outsmarting enemies pursuing Firva's bow while uncovering the mystery surrounding its origin.
  • Exploration and environments — Describes Ramirtana's jungles, ruins, and dreamlike landscapes, emphasizing hidden paths, environmental storytelling, and secrets.
  • Story themes — Frames the game as a character-driven story concerned with revenge and consequence, fate versus free will, and trauma and identity.
  • Narration and layered storytelling — Explains that dynamic narration and shifting perspectives reveal additional interpretations of events, encouraging the player to question reality and inevitability.

Firva: Strings Of Fate is in development for PC (Steam).
