'Just Dance 2016' (ALL) Unveils Showtime Mode, New Tracks - Screens & Trailer

by Rainier on Aug. 5, 2015 @ 6:18 p.m. PDT

Just Dance 2016 is the latest installment in the dance franchise, featuring tracks from artists like Mark Ronson Ft. Bruno Mars, Jason Derulo, Meghan Trainor, Calvin Harris Ft. John Newman and Lady Gaga.

The free Just Dance Controller App enables players on Xbox One, PS4, and Wii U to use their Apple, Android, or Windows Phone devices to play the game without any peripherals or added console cameras. The app transforms the player’s phone into a motion sensor that tracks the accuracy of their moves and allows them to navigate through the game.

Starting this year, Just Dance Unlimited is a new subscription streaming service available for newgen owners, allowing players on Just Dance 2016 to access exclusive songs and the best tracks from previous Just Dance games. By subscribing to Just Dance Unlimited, players will have the chance to enjoy more than 150 songs at launch and further tracks throughout the year.

The new Showtime mode will allow players to unleash their inner star by creating unique music videos of themselves performing. Players lip-sync and perform along to hit songs in the game and the video footage is then turned into a fun shareable music video.  The music videos pull in both creative visual elements and pop cultural references— each song will have a distinctive and visually original atmosphere. Showtime will be available on Nintendo’s Wii U , Xbox One, and PS4. A Kinect for Xbox One, PlayStation Camera or WiiU Gamepad is required to play this mode.

The new tracks revealed at Gamescom include:

  •  “Fancy” by Iggy Azalea Ft. Charli XCX
  • “Fun” by Pitbull Ft. Chris Brown
  •  “Lights” by Ellie Goulding
  • “I’m An Albatraoz” by AronChupa
  • “Circus” by Britney Spears
  • “Balkan Blast Remix” from Angry Birds
  •  “Stuck On A Feeling” by Prince Royce
  •  “Boys (Summertime Love)” by The Lemon Cubes
  •  “Rabiosa” by Shakira Ft. El Cata

At Gamescom, the second live event qualification for the Just Dance World Cup will be taking place from August 6th to August 9th at the eSports World Cup Stand (Hall 10.1 Booth A-046) between 9:00am and 8:00pm. One Champion will be qualified to attend the finals at Paris Games week in October.

Just Dance 2016 also brings back fan-favorite features like Sweat & Playlists, along with all-new game modes that are exclusive to new-gen consoles, including:

  • Dance Quests Mode: Players can unlock dance quests for a chance to “beat the game” for the first time ever. In each quest, players will play a series of three songs for a chance to advance to the next set of dance quest challenges.
  • Dance Party Mode: In the Dance Party mode, players can dance along with their friends and family in the classic rival mode or dance together to get the highest collective score as a group in the first ever co-op mode.
  • World Video Challenge: The all-new World Video Challenge allows players to send videos of their performances to challenge friends from all around the world and dance against their scores as if they were in the same room!
