About Judy

As WP's managing editor, I edit review and preview articles, attempt to keep up with the frantic pace of Rainier's news posts, and keep our reviewers on deadline, which is akin to herding cats. When I have a moment to myself and don't have my nose in a book, I like to play action/RPG, adventure and platforming games.

2. 'Mass Effect 3' (PS3/X360/PC)

Earth is burning. Striking from beyond known space, a race of terrifying machines have begun their destruction of the human race. As Commander Shepard, an Alliance Marine, your only hope for saving mankind is to rally the civilizations of the galaxy and launch one final mission to take back the Earth.

Reggie Carolipio: I'm itching to know where all of those choices will leave my Shepherd at the end of his journey. It's been a good quest that started out with loot and loaded up with skills, stumbled along the way with even less, but kept me going to know just how everything would eventually play out. I'll admit, the ending left me a bit flat, but that won't stop me from finding out how the Citadel's favorite son will cap off his climactic career.

Jason Grant: Even if I didn't think this was a great role-playing series on its own merits, I'm far too invested to stop now. Like every other gamer geek, I've been following the adventures of my Commander Shepard since 2007. After five years, I need to know how it all ends. (Hopefully there won't be too many turrets involved.)

Brad Hilderbrand: It's finally time for all of Commander Shepard's chickens to come home to roost. Now that the Reaper invasion is in full force, can all the galactic races rally together to save themselves, or will the sentient spaceships hit the universal reset button? The sheer volume of tactical choices and branching narratives up to this point ensure that the finale will be unique to almost every player, and I get the feeling this is going to be a franchise we continue to talk about for years to come. All this, and I haven't even touched on the refinements to combat or the inclusion of voice commands, mostly because I'm primarily concerned with how the war ends for my Shepard.

Erik "NekoIncardine" Ottosen: Commander Shepard's adventures have created two very strong Bioware games. There was plenty of reason to be skeptical about the change when Mass Effect 2 came out, and new elements — like the co-op multiplayer missions and controversial increase in homosexuality-related options — inspire some skepticism about Bioware's ability to land a hat-trick. However, few who have enjoyed the series can argue that Bioware is going to screw up the story of the series, and if nothing else, this should be an amazing end to a trilogy.

Thomas Wilde: BioWare's been doing its best to deliberately court controversy lately, so I'm really expecting ME3 to turn into some kind of massive online argument at some point in the first week. I'm looking forward to seeing how Jane Shepard, Space Lesbian, manages to end her career, and just how many sentient beings I'm going to murder along the way.
