Nordic Games Publishing Launched

Swedish retail chain Game Outlet announced the launch of its video game publishing company. Nordic Games Publishing will soon be launching a range of premium licensed and new IP products across the PS2, Wii, NDS and PC formats, initially focusing on the budget and mid-priced titles, but plans to evolve as part of a longer term publishing strategy.

Operation Flashpoint 2: Dragon Rising marks the long-awaited return of the total conflict simulator. It will challenge a new generation of players to survive the chaos and rapidly evolving situations of military combat in a new and contemporary theatre.

Guitar Hero: World Tour will feature guitar, vocals, drums, the ability to create your own songs (and upload them on GHTunes), four-player on/offline co-op, and an eight-player battle of the bands multiplayer mode (4vs4). Not only will the new GH title have a Wii-exclusive Mii Freestyle mode and a host of European-specific tracks, but Activision also revealed that it plans on adding one extra instrument to the lineup. While no specifics were given, Neversoft director Brain Bright said it will be used for the music creation mode, which fueled speculation that it may be a keyboard.

Used Games Boost GameStop Sales, Expects $50 PS3/X360 Price Cut Soon

GameStop's Q2 2008 financial result reveals that the retailer made a killing, with total sales increase 35%, store sales up 20%, making its net earnings increase 162%. The positive result is mainly driven by its used game sales, attributed to the weak economy, as it buys low and sells high. During its conf. call Gamestop execs expect a $50 price drop for X360 and PS3 before year's end. While Microsoft is expected to lower its console price, SCEA has stated several times that it will not cut its price.
