'The Battle for Middle-earth II' v1.03 Patch Coming Soon

In a community update, EA reveals more details on the upcoming BFME 2 v1.03 patch, "patch 1.03 for The Battle for Middle-earth 2 is in its final testing stages and should be ready for launch very soon. The patch will include numerous technical fixes, increased de-sync fixes, extensive balance changes, and the addition of five brand new multiplayer maps - all new locations to BFME 2, and one of which is the return of a popular BFME 1 multiplayer map, Fords of Isen." It also reveals patch 1.04 is already being worked on, which will be a much more comprehensive balance patch.

Vivendi Universal Games today announced Eragon, a fantasy-adventure game is based on the upcoming Twentieth Century Fox feature film inspired by Christopher Paolini's best-selling fantasy novel, featuring Edward Speleers, Djimon Hounsou and Robert Carlyle.

BFME 2 takes part in the North where a battle is raging between Sauron's forces vs. elves and dwarves. It will be possible to create/customize your own hero, apart from known figures such as Arwin, and become more powerful as you progress in the game. While BFME was all land based, the sequel will also take the action on the sea, naval battles included.

British games publisher Reef Entertainment would like to announce their presence at this years annual E3 event in Los Angeles, CA, May 10, 2006, this the world's largest trade show for the computer games industry. Reef Entertainment will showcasing Liquidator, Utopia City and World War Zero, they will be also actively looking for more products to join their growing line-up which includes Shadowgrounds, The Dark Legions and World War II Tank Commander.

LucasArts Working on 'Darth Vader' Title

A New York Times article covering the past, present and future of LucasArts, and its president Jim Ward, reveals that the company is working on a new title set in the Star Wars Universe. Although there are no plans for upcoming movies, there is still a vast untapped resource of material that can be used for games, and the NYT writer was privy to a demo of a yet unannounced game revolving around Darth Vader's history. No further details were disclosed, but with E3 around the corner, we will have all the latest details when we meet up with George Lucas' gang.

MTV Films and Paramount have signed Sean O'Keefe and Will Staples to write the movie script for Atari Getting Up: Contents Under Pressure video game, a story about a young graffiti artist who goes on the run after discovering a dirty secret about government officials in his city. O'Keefe and Staples most recently adapted the comic book Fathom for Fox, Columbia's The Murder of King Tut and The Northmen. Marc Ecko will co-produce, no director has been assigned yet.
