Fight an all-out war for survival in the year 2142. EA and Digital Illusions, today announced development of the next installment in the award-winning Battlefield franchise, Battlefield 2142, scheduled to ship worldwide this winter for the PC.

Since Troika is no longer amongst the living this patch is not official, so use at your own discretion. This update brings Activision's Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines retail game to v2.2 (requires v1.2 patch installed) and addresses a number of known issues, gameplay tweaks, bug fixes and so forth.

Oblivion uses the X360 hard drive extensively to cache (copy and reuse) game data. Quite a few people have complained about excessive load times, often caused by the cached data being overly fragmented. To solve this problem, reset your Xbox, and hold down the A button as the game is booting up, which will clear its hard drive cache, and create a new one. Once you see the Bethesda Softworks logo video, the game is already loaded, and the cache should have been cleared. This does not affect any save games.

A community update on the EA website confirms that Battlefield 2142 is under development at DICE Stockholm, with an official announcement expected later this week. "we're currently hard at work developing Battlefield 2142, which is scheduled for release this Autumn. As you'll have guessed, this is a departure for the BF series as we're going into the future - something that a lot of you wanted to see happen in the BF universe. We're creating a ton of cool features that you won't have seen in any BF before, including cloaking devices, mines that follow you, awesome new rifles, guns and grenades, and of course, MECHS! "

For fans of Call of Duty 2 for PC, Infinity Ward and Activision have also revealed new details surrounding the upcoming release of a highly-anticipated update, which will include the previously announced PunkBuster anti-cheat technology, as well as two new multiplayer maps: Rhine and the longtime community favorite Harbor, from the original Call of Duty. No specifics on when the patch will be released.
