Ubi Soft Entertainment today announced that the highly anticipated World War II combat flight simulation IL-2: Forgotten Battles has shipped to retailers in North America.

On the heals of signing a game publishing deal with leading U.K. video game developer Bits Studio Ltd., global video game publisher, Kemco U.S.A., INC., announced today that it is on a mission at this week’s Game Developers Conference (GDC) in San Jose to acquire additional externally-developed game properties. Director of R&D for Kemco, Colin Gordon will be attending the show and will be reachable to prospective game developers.

Sammy Studios Inc. today announced that Rick Olafsson has been appointed to the position of chief financial officer. Rick comes to Sammy Studios after having served financial management positions in high-tech and interactive entertainment at such companies as Mattel Inc., eParties.com, and most recently TheBrain Technologies Corporation.

Infogrames today announced the release of Line of Sight: Vietnam, the "next installment in Infogrames' repertoire of authentic military games with pick up and playability, coupled with an affordable price point". Developed by nFusion Interactive LLC, this FPS "follow the story of a young sniper assigned by the U.S. Army to the 5th Special Forces compound in Kontum, Vietnam".

Today a team of game industry veterans announced the launch of Skylab Entertainment, a new game development studio in Austin, Texas. Skylab's founders include original team members from game developer Ritual Entertainment and publisher Gathering of Developers. Skylab Entertainment is dedicated to developing the next generation of interactive entertainment for tomorrow's gaming systems, and is hard at work on their first, unannounced title.

CDV has issued a new patch for their top-down 3D action role-playing game upgrading your retail Grom to v1.3. This release fixes graphics issues in the game's later missions, as well as a few other glitches occuring on older hardware (thanks GamesWeb).

Crowd Control Productions, developer of the highly anticipated massive multiplayer online game (MMOG) "Eve Online: The Second Genesis" announced today this PC game will ship May 6, 2003 in North America and Europe. EVE ONLINE will allow more than 100,000 gamers to play in a single universe that will not be broken into "shards." No other MMOG has attained this many simultaneous users. EVE ONLINE is being published simultaneously in North America by Viacom unit Simon & Schuster Interactive, and in Europe by Crucial Entertainment.
