At last year's Tokyo Game Show Tecmo revealed that a new title in the Fatal Frame franchise, known in Europe as Project Zero, is under development specifically for the Wii by Grasshopper, known for the recent No More Heroes, and once again produced by Keisuke Kikuchi.

Tecmo announced today that Fatal Frame 2: Crimson Butterfly, the sequel to the terrifying survival-horror game, Fatal Frame, has gone gold and will be available in stores from December 9th. Fatal Frame 2: Crimson follows the tale of twin sisters trapped in an abandoned village and forced to deal with spirits of a once sacred, now demonic ritual. The "psychological thriller" features a unique camera-combat system that is now upgradeable, a more disturbing atmosphere and setting, and lots of ghoulish apparitions. Tecmo’s game will be available Dec 9th on the PlayStation 2.

At its E3 press conference, Tecmo announced that it has entered into a deal whereby DreamWorks will produce a film based on Tecmo's popular survival-horror game "Fatal Frame." The agreement, which is still being finalized, gives DreamWorks the exclusive option to the live-action production rights for Tecmo's "Fatal Frame." In March of 2002, Tecmo shipped "Fatal Frame" for the PlayStation2 computer entertainment system to critical acclaim and rave customer reviews.
