THQ today announced changes to its product release schedule. The company's action-adventure title, "Sphinx and the Cursed Mummy," for the PlayStation 2 computer entertainment system is now expected to ship in North America on November 10, 2003. The title had previously been scheduled to launch in late September. The company also announced plans to publish Sphinx for the Xbox video game system from Microsoft in North America concurrent with the November PlayStation 2 and GameCube launch...
In addition, "Warhammer 40,000: Firewarrior," the first online first person shooter for PlayStation 2, will be released on schedule in Europe during the September quarter. However, the PlayStation 2 version is now expected to ship in North America during the third fiscal quarter. The PC versions are also now scheduled to ship in North America and Europe during the third fiscal quarter.

The 2nd Annual EA SPORTS Madden Challenge, a nationwide 32-city tournament to decide the best player of the world’s top-selling football video game starts Saturday, August 23 in Chicago, Il. The champion from each city will proceed to compete for the prestigious title of Madden Challenge Champion on Madden NFL 2004, which just shipped last week. The stakes this year have been raised with a $50,000 grand prize being awarded to the overall 2003 Madden Challenge Champion. The finals will be held at a location to be determined in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Oxygen Interactive, the UK based computer game publisher can today announce that they have signed the highly acclaimed Massively Multiplayer Online Strategy title Time of Defiance in a priority deal with developers Nicely Crafted Entertainment. Oxygen Interactive have acquired the rights for Europe, Australia and New Zealand, in a deal which will see the award nominated title brought to the mass market.

Korea: Forgotten Conflict is a 3D Real Time Strategy game based on the war that no-one, save for those involved, wants to remember. ‘The Great Escape’ video game is based on the 1963 Oscar nominated film staring Steve McQueen and revolves around actual events during WW2. The game is set in a number of unique locations, from POW camps to a mountain-top castle. Game levels include a busy hospital, a chase through a moving train and escape from an active Luftwaffe airfield. Hothouse Creations today announces that it has signed a second development deal with international publisher Konami to produce an as yet un-named game for PlayStation 2, PC and X-Box. The deal will see Hothouse further its relationship with Konami, who recently published Casino, Inc. by the Bristol-based developer. The game is scheduled for release in the Summer of 2005, and Hothouse has recruited Pete O'Brien, former Producer at Sega Corporation, to lead the project. Further details about the game will be released in due course.

Kuju said Monday that it has reached a mutual and amicable agreement with Microsoft to transition its PC simulation technology and the ongoing development of Train Simulator 2 to Microsoft. As announced in the AGM statement, this is part of the restructuring and cost reduction exercise that Kuju is implementing which will have a negative impact on results for the current year however in the longer term will result in a lower cost base as Kuju focuses on its core Console and Wireless operations.
