The Matrix: Path of Neo will enable players to actually play as Neo, the central character, and relive his most important and memorable scenarios from the complete film trilogy, including the original film, The Matrix. Atari has released a new patch for the North American edition of the game, fixing minor graphical issues caused by Patch 1 and changes made to the control options now save.

Warner Bros. Studios and Ubi Soft® Entertainment, one of the world's largest video game publishers, will co-publish The Matrix Online, the first massively multiplayer online game based on Warner Bros. Pictures' vastly influential Matrix property.
Under the terms of the worldwide exclusive deal, Ubi Soft will distribute and manage the live game operations of The Matrix Online, while Warner Bros. Studios will oversee all story and content development. Both companies will supervise ongoing game development and marketing activities for the game. Following the beta test in 2003, The Matrix Online is expected to launch in 2004.

As part of Update 38 we will be introducing Massive in-game advertising to The Matrix Online, similar to what people experience in SOE's Planetside. Real-world ads will cycle to keep things fresh, and SOE is also looking into maybe allowing players to purchase ad space.

Members of the community have noted that it can be difficult to find other players in The Matrix: Mega City. The current level of population density can limit opportunities for socializing with other players which are such a key part of our worlds, so on August 2, 2005, Sony Online will be merging the nine current worlds into three new worlds. This merge should help to increase the number of players on any world at any given time. One world will be Hostile while the other two will run under normal PvP rules.
