Hip Interactive announced today the signing of a license agreement with ARUSH Entertainment to be the exclusive North American distributor for the PC and console video game Fear Factor: Unleashed based on the TV hit series Fear Factor. Midway Sports today announced MLB SlugFest: Loaded, the newest title in the adrenaline-style baseball series which, for the first time, takes America’s Pastime online with a host of new gameplay features. Also new for 2004, MLB SlugFest: Loaded will include the addition of the Baseball Mogul engine into its franchise mode, adding great depth and endless re-playability to the game. Midway also today unveiled Sammy Sosa as the cover athlete for MLB SlugFest: Loaded, establishing a relationship with one of baseball’s all-time greats. Today Midway Games had their financial results conference call for the 4th quarter of 2003 and while we could dazzle you with meaningless numbers of net losses and revenue's the interesting part was where Midway looked ahead and revealed some new/upcoming titles. Their upcoming action/horror titles (check our Xbox preview) now also seems to be heading to the PC. The next, yet unnamed, Mortal Kombat 6 is scheduled for Fall 2004, will feature online multiplyer for both Xbox & PS2, same goes for Inevitable's (previously know for The Hobbit) Area 51. SEGA of America, Inc. today announced that it will publish "Puyo Pop Fever" in North America. Developed by SEGA's Sonic Team studio, the latest version of SEGA's addictive puzzle franchise offers an enhanced two-player experience that includes an an ultra-intense Fever mode and boosted combo effects. A new story mode, revamped graphics, and new puzzle pieces make this game as irresistible as it is addictive. "Puyo Pop Fever" is scheduled to be released on Xbox and GameCube in June '04.

DreamCatcher Games has today confirmed that the long-awaited demo of its first-person shooter, Painkiller, will be available for download around 2PM PST on February 16th. Eidos announces it has optioned the film and television rights to its sexy and action-packed video game franchise Fear Effect to producer and director Uwe Boll and his production company, BollKG. Continuing Eidos' success in transitioning game content to film, the Fear Effect deal follows in the footsteps of bringing the hugely popular Tomb Raider video game to the big screen via Paramount Pictures. Additionally, Eidos optioned the multi-award-winning game Deus Ex to Columbia Pictures and producer Laura Zisken in 2002.

Valve today announced a Source Engine licensing partnership with Arkane Studios, creators of Arx Fatalis. Already in development, Arkane's Source-based project is targeted for the PC.
