Midway Sports today announced MLB SlugFest: Loaded, the newest title in the adrenaline-style baseball series which, for the first time, takes America’s Pastime online with a host of new gameplay features. Also new for 2004, MLB SlugFest: Loaded will include the addition of the Baseball Mogul engine into its franchise mode, adding great depth and endless re-playability to the game. Today Midway Games had their financial results conference call for the 4th quarter of 2003 and while we could dazzle you with meaningless numbers of net losses and revenue's the interesting part was where Midway looked ahead and revealed some new/upcoming titles. Their upcoming action/horror titles (
check our Xbox preview) now also seems to be heading to the PC. The next, yet unnamed, Mortal Kombat 6 is scheduled for Fall 2004, will feature online multiplyer for both Xbox & PS2, same goes for Inevitable's (previously know for The Hobbit) Area 51. The player must build a Wildlife Park from the ground up, continually tweaking it so that the little giggling visitors will happily spend their money. He starts out with only the park area, a ticket booth and a decent amount of money. From there the player has to buy some attractive animals, build their surroundings, add a few employees and then open the gates and let the visitors flow in. The game consists of several different terrains in different areas around the globe on which the player can start up his new Wildlife Park business.

Eidos announces it has optioned the film and television rights to its sexy and action-packed video game franchise Fear Effect to producer and director Uwe Boll and his production company, BollKG. Continuing Eidos' success in transitioning game content to film, the Fear Effect deal follows in the footsteps of bringing the hugely popular Tomb Raider video game to the big screen via Paramount Pictures. Additionally, Eidos optioned the multi-award-winning game Deus Ex to Columbia Pictures and producer Laura Zisken in 2002.

Valve today announced a Source Engine licensing partnership with Arkane Studios, creators of Arx Fatalis. Already in development, Arkane's Source-based project is targeted for the PC.
