The 3DO Company today announced the development of the Army Men: Air Combat “The Elite Missions” game for the Nintendo GameCube system. The Army Men: Air Combat “The Elite Missions” game follows the exploits of the heroic Captain Blade and his Alpha Wolf Squadron as they once again take to the skies in support of the Green Army in their ongoing struggle with the Tan forces. The game is planned to ship in time for Christmas 2002.

The 3DO Company today announced the development of the first Sarge’s Heroes title for the Nintendo GameCube, Army Men: Sarge’s War. The Sarge’s Heroes games were some of the most successful third-party titles for the Nintendo 64, having sold over a million units between the two games. The Army Men: Sarge’s War game is planned to ship in Spring 2003.

Computer and video game publisher Gathering of Developers, a subsidiary of Take-Two Interactive Software, Inc., and developer Illusion Softworks in association with development team Pterodon, today announced "Vietcong" for the PC. Set during the Vietnam War, "Vietcong" is a first person shooter with tactical elements. The game is expected to hit store shelves this fall.

Trecision S.p.A has started the development of a title for PS2 and PC starring Popeye, the world renown sailor created in 1929 by Elzie Segar. Popeye’s adventures are enjoyed by millions of fans world-wide, both young and adults. The game will be published in 2003 by French company Cryo.

Phantagram Interactive announced today that it will begin limited enrollment for beta testing its upcoming massively multiplayer online role-playing game (MMORPG) "Shining Lore." The company expects tens of thousands of submissions but will limit the testing to the first 20,000 qualified candidates. Set to begin in July, the beta test will run approximately 60 days and will lead into the commercial release of the game for North America.

The first MOD for Mobile Forces is now available, Mental Race is a new, bonus gametype for Mobile Forces, put together by the game's creators, Real Time Worlds. Mental race is designed to be placed in maps compatible with Mobile Forces' Trailer mode, i.e. 'mf-' maps, such as the 11 original environments which came with the retail release, and any extra 'tra-' maps created by the community.
