We did a little shopping yesterday. I had to get extra ram for the work computer to speed things up a little. It's a last-ditch effort; the next step is buying a new computer. Yay!
Also went out and got a mic/headset so we can coordinate and strategize in CrimeCraft since the previous patch has added daily tournaments. Nothing too fancy, a $30 Logitech thing, but it works fine, was easy install, and it got the job done, even though we came in second in last night's tourney.
Last night we watched House and
Four Christmases, the former being quite trippy and the latter rather entertaining with a few good chuckles.

Two days into the Game Developers Conference, and it seems that we're already exhausted. A quick little nap turned into a full night's sleep, not even hearing any of the alarms set to wake us up and get back to work. At least we feel refreshed this morning, I guess.
Now that we're running late, we'll skip the pleasantries and get right to it.

The good news is that I'm feeling much better. Whatever bug I caught was short-lived, so good riddance.
The bad news is that my 80GB iPod seems to have died somewhere down the line. I hadn't used it in a week or two, and when I wanted to plug it in, it was on low battery, so I charged it. When I tried to turn it back on shortly afterward, it kept trying to boot up only to shut down right away, and then it'd try to boot up again. After a few tries, it went to disk mode, and it's been sort of stuck there ever since. Oddly enough, when I load iTunes and the iPod is connected, it makes the program crash right away. Guess we're due for a trip to the Apple store ....

It was raining all day, and I'm talking torrential, cats & dogs rain. Absolute buckets of the stuff. Some serious thunder made the house rumble, and there was even some hail on top of that. Haven't had such a heavy storm in a long time. Luckily, it seemed to have eased up by now, but they are predicting more of the same over the next few days. Joy!
Apart from the outdoor shenanigans, it was a quiet day on the home front. Watched some Fringe, the newest Leverage, and then some Australian Open. We had been meaning to check out the British
Robin Hood series, and it's finally available on Netflix instant watch. So far, so good.

The forces are working against us! We had nothing planned for tonight, so we were going to watch some TV, but I started to not feel well this afternoon, so that plan got ruined! Hopefully tomorrow it will be a little bit quiet in the afternoon so I can squeeze in an episode of Fringe and NCIS: LA (which I stopped following, but I have a backlog of episodes).
CrimeCraft servers were down today, so I checked out Borderlands for a bit, and I'm quite loving it. I wish the inventory/backpack was bigger, though. With gazillion of guns in the game, it would be nice to hold on to more dropped items to sell them, but so far, that's my only gripe.

The past few days have been extremely cold. It's barely below the freezing point, but that's uncharacteristically for this area. Even the office, with all of the computers running 24/7, was barely warm enough to work in. It should get better by this weekend, but the forecast says that it'll rain the entire time, so it's not much of an improvement.
We watched some Dollhouse, and since the series has been canceled, you can sort of tell that they are rushing the story along to wrap things up in the remaining episodes. Too bad. Also caught up on the Criminal Minds backlog and watched the latest Castle. This weekend, we might watch a few Netflix or take a trip to the movie theater to check out
2012,
Avatar, or maybe
Invictus.

As if our sleep schedule weren't out of whack enough, we decided to go to sleep early and get a head start on the day, waking up at 6 a.m. Yea, we didn't mean THAT much of a head start, really.
Last night's episode of Stargate Universe was nothing spectacular, but next week's looks promising. So far, all of the new episodes have been set on the spaceship, while the new one seems off-world, albeit via a message of warning from their future selves. We also watched FlashForward, and the series has been surprisingly solid thus far, so let's just hope they don't get lost in their own intricacies, twists and turns, like Heroes and Lost have.
Next week sees the launch of what will probably be one of the biggest titles of the year, Modern Warfare 2. While PC gamers seem to have been given the shaft multiple times over, I'm still going to check it out, but I fully understand the frustration. Who would have thought that a developer who got big on the PC would backstab their most loyal fans this way?

Did all you trick-or-treaters have a good time tonight? Hope your baskets are either full of delicious sugary goodness or empty (burp)!
We went to see Paranormal Activity, and as expected, it was Blair Witch-esque, with people chronicling their antics with plenty of shaky-cam pseudo-documentary footage. While the movie isn't bad at all, there were more laughs during the movie than actual scares, and the most interesting bit was the last 10 minutes. It puzzles me that the characters' first instinct isn't to turn on the light when something freaky happens but instead wander into the dark. If something is suspected of coming into your bedroom from outside, how about you close the door?
We have a full day ahead of us tomorrow. We're going out to the city to have dim sum with some friends, and later in the evening, we're having drinks with some other friends and hopefully plenty of buffalo wings. Cheers!

Yesterday was a bust, again! I was looking forward to our boys-only excursion to the city for beer & BBQ, and while we were supposed to meet at 4pm-ish, I didn't get a call until 8pm and the entire plan changed to dinner and a movie.
Since we were planning to go to the movies on Sunday, I declined and instead we did some chores, groceries, played some Wolfenstein, watched Supernatural, a few episodes of Heroes, and FlashForward.
The plan of attack for today is to do some errands and watch Law Abiding Citizen and Zomebieland. Should be a good time!

Ahh weekend, my favorite time of the week. Time to actually sleep and watch even more TV. We'll probably check out Bruce Willis' "Surrogates," which looks interesting.
This week and next week, quite a few big titles are shipping, and judging from all the press events marked on my calendar it's safe to say that the ramp-up to the holidays has begun, and plenty of titles are coming. Another 4 events this week. Luckily all of them are local, and no, we're
not flying out to Italy to check out Assassin's Creed II.
And now for the shameless plug. It was good to hear that Vogster is
taking care of business and going to release a limited free-to-play version of
CrimeCraft. Love playing the game, but it sure could use some more people in it. While you can trigger PvE instances, the PvP is a big part of the game so new recruits are more than welcome. Hopefully, this will also bring down the prices in the auction house (rare items are being sold for outrageous amounts of money). You all better check it out later this month. You have no excuse not to. :)

The weekend is off to somewhat of a weak start. The BBQ that I was SO looking forward to didn't happen. An odd change of plans stood in the way of my grilled steak, dammit!
I'll have to make up for it when we hit the town with some other friends tonight, Vinnie's, here I come!
Hope you all checked out our
Nathan Fillion interview yesterday! If not, you better be on your way right now! It's good, and it's kind of funny to read about a Hollywood celebrity actually being into gaming, unlike other actors who "claim" they are gamers just to promote a game. Nathan, beware, I'll be sneaking up on you with an energy sword or whack you with the (gravity) hammer of doom!
As I mentioned earlier this week, we'll probably be doing a few site updates, little tweaks here and there, and catching up on some Tokyo Game Show coverage, so there'll be plenty to read around these parts of the Internets.

Since we know that Mass Effect is meant to be a trilogy, the sequel announcement is no surprise. With EA's recent acquisition of Bioware/Pandemic, however, a big question was whether the franchise was going to become multiplatform. BioWare senior manager Matt Atwood revealed in a
recent interview that Mass Effect 2 will be exclusive on the Xbox 360, at least for a certain period, and then make its way to the PC
shortly thereafter.
