3DO Company announced today the completion of an agreement with founder and chief executive officer Trip Hawkins that will provide $10 million in financial support to the company. A clip from announcement:
"3DO is poised to release hit games in 2003, beginning with our top-ranked High Heat Major League Baseball 2004 in February," said Hawkins. "This agreement is a big step forward on our goals of revenue growth and a return to profitability. Our confidence is growing from good previews from the gaming press for our 2003 product slate, and promising purchase order demand for our initial 2003 releases."

Laminar Research has released a new upgrade for X-Plane, bringing their comprehensive flight simulation to version 6.50. As with most releases, there is a large patch from the previous v6.40 as well as a full update that also serves as a time-limited demo, and this release adds scenery improvements, numerous flight model enhancements, the new F-35 plane, general tweaks, bug fixes and more (

The patch will be released in 2 versions, a full (50mb) and lite version (16mb). The Full version will upgrade any version of SoF2, with the Lite version updating 1.02 to 1.03 (Gold). Octagon is seeking publishing partners in Asia for Battle Cards: MetalTech from Swedish developer
Disciples of the Machine. MetalTech is a massively multiplayer online game that is a rare find in the MMOG genre as it features addictive gameplay involving trading cards. Players must strategically choose which cards to unleash from their own decks to conquer challengers' front lines of defense. Cards are divided into seven categories and function in terms of combat tactics, energy and special effects. The game is designed so that players can download the game client and practice free of charge. Advanced decks are available for purchase and new card packs are introduced each month. MetalTech also offers a spectator option in which players can scope out the competition in the heat of battle. MetalTech is scheduled to be completed Q2 2003.

EA and Westwood Studios announced today that Team Player Vs. Player (PvP) will be implemented in this month's content update for Earth and Beyond. The Team PvP gameplay will be introduced as part of a storyline involving the Progen, and will be deliver to E&B players via special areas designed exclusively for this type of gameplay. Earth & Beyond's team-based PvP will be offered in "gladiator-like games" that allow players to compete using a combination of skill, combat and tactics (thanks Gamespydaily).

forum for Splinter Cell over at Ubi.com has been updated with more info regarding the upcoming demo for Splinter Cell.. Here is the full clip:
- The demo will be around 90 MB.
- A complete level from the first mission of the game is included.
