A new research report from DFC Intelligence forecasts that 114 million people worldwide are expected to be playing online games by the year 2006. Furthermore, online game usage is expected to increase nearly six-fold in that period. According to David Cole, president of DFC Intelligence, "Online games should garner significant usage over the next few years. The major question mark is whether individual companies will be able to monetize that usage."

E3 is over, the hype around Raven Shield is getting bigger. Noticed over at
Blues that Barking Dog Studios has released the final multiplayer demo of Global Operations,
available for download from Electronic Arts' ftp server. This version 2.0 demo offers the Antarctica map (as opposed to the Quebec map in the beta demo) from their team-based tactical shooter, and it requires a 98.6 MB download. Also available is a
version 2.0.2.3 upgrade (4.8 MB) for the dedicated Linux server.
