3Impact Coming With 2 New Dynamics-Compliant Titles

by Rainier on Jan. 10, 2003 @ 8:22 p.m. PST

3Impact.com announces the release of the first two pc games built upon a new collision response engine. Concrete Bowling is a bowling simulation so realistic that allows you to simulate advanced bowling techniques like hooking, action and breakpoint management. Extreme Burnout, inspired to drag racing contests, is a game demonstrating realistic car dynamics and crashes. Read more for details and links where to grab the demo's ...

"The physics engine was developed for educational purposes, but in the end we realized that it was flexible enough to be used as a basis for pc games," says Steve Stellork, contact person for 3impact.com. "We were so amazed by the realism of the bowling simulation that we decided to go ahead and test it with some racing car dynamics. Amazed again!".

ABOUT THE COLLISION RESPONSE ENGINE

Our pc games perform realistic dynamics simulation, and accurately model rigid-body physics, because they are supported by a powerful collision detection and collision response engine. It was designed with 3d games in mind. It is dedicated, specialized and optimized. For best performance, it specifically deals with typical 3d game components, like terrain, walls, movable objects, vehicles and wheels. Even on relatively slow machines (like, for instance, a Pentium 166Mhz MMX) it is able to perform a complex collision response computation dozens of times per second.

ABOUT THE 3D RENDERING ENGINE

In addition, our collision response engine is supported by an advanced 3d rendering engine. This 3d rendering engine was entirely built upon Microsoft DirectX version 8.1, and was specifically designed to meet the demanding requirements of newest pc games. It features hardware rendered visual effects, like real-time shadows, particle systems and vertex blending, besides hardware supported 3d sounds and full support for gaming input devices like multi-function joysticks and steering wheels. The engine can run both in window and full-screen mode. It can also be extensively tuned to meet virtually any system specification.
