Brazil Bans 'Counter-Strike' and 'EverQuest'

by Rainier on Jan. 19, 2008 @ 7:03 a.m. PST

Back in October 2007 Brazilian federal court ordered a ban on Counter-Strike and EverQuest, claiming they incited violence, are addictive as drugs according to some psychologists and thus deemed harmful to consumers' health, but judge Carlos Alberto Simoes' ruling was only implemented until earlier this week. A region specific version of CS allows players to take on the perspective of either a police officer or a narcotrafficker in Rio de Janeiro's infamously crime-ridden slums.
