'Wanted: Weapons of Fate' (PS3/X360/PC) Gets Hollywood Voice Cast

by Rainier on Feb. 5, 2009 @ 7:21 a.m. PST

Armed with iconic moves from rigorous assassin training, including "Curving Bullets" and "Bullet Explosion," as well an arsenal of powerful, high-tech weapons, players will explore Wesley's quest to becoming an unmatched uberassassin in fast-paced, action-packed combat against the world's most notorious killers.

Based on Universal Pictures' action-thriller Wanted, starring James McAvoy, Morgan Freeman and Angelina Jolie, the Wanted: Weapons of Fate video game promises to deliver the same fantastic visual style, in-your-face attitude and edge-of-your-seat action as the blockbuster motion picture.

The Wanted: Weapons of Fate video game, developed by GRIN, continues the story of hero Wesley Gibson, picking up the action where the film leaves off and creating an entirely new chapter exploring both Wesley's journey to becoming an unmatched überassassin and the epic fiction of "The Fraternity."

Featuring intense third-person action, the Wanted: Weapons of Fate video game will take combat to the next level with iconic moves — such as "Curving Bullets" and "Assassin Time" — drawn directly from the film, as well as an innovative, multi-layered cover mechanic.

Grammy Award winning hip-hop artist and actor Common (American Gangster, Smokin' Aces), noted actor Thomas Kretschmann (King Kong, Transsiberian), award-winning Spanish actress Paz Vega (Spanglish, The Spirit) and Oscar-nominated film star Terence Stamp (Superman II, Valkyrie) will lend their vocal talents to Wanted: Weapons of Fate.

In Wanted: Weapons of Fate, Common voices the role of Brummel, a businessman and weapons dealer with ties to a secret society of assassins known as the Fraternity, while Paz Vega plays a seductive Spanish assassin named Araña who protects one of the Fraternity’s innermost secrets. Terence Stamp returns to his role from the film as Pekwarsky, a close friend of the Killer who has shrouded affiliations with the team of assassins.

Other vocal talents in the game include performances from Thomas Kretschmann, who reprises his film role as Cross, a former member of the Fraternity who finds himself the target of those who were once his allies. Additionally, award-winning actor Peter Stormare (Constantine, Nacho Libre) lends his voice as The Immortal, the leader of the French Fraternity who will stop at nothing to follow the film’s notable Code of Weavers.

Key Features:

  • Intense Third-Person Action: The development team at GRIN is best known for its action-oriented gameplay and the Wanted video game is no exception; the game will feature advanced shooting, fighting and assassin "finish" mechanics as well as acrobatic and stealth moves that will blow gamers' minds
  • Iconic film Moves: Fans of the blockbuster film will immediately recognize the logic-defying combat styles and moves from the motion picture -- such as "Curving Bullets" and "Assassin Time" – and will be able to execute those moves themselves as they take on the role of Wesley
  • Advanced Cover Gameplay: The Wanted video game will incorporate an advanced cover mechanic that will allow players to use the environment and other items to protect themselves as they engage enemies; the cover mechanic's multi-faceted design changes the way "cover" gameplay is executed
  • Extending Film Storyline: The storyline of the Wanted video game picks up where the movie leaves off, providing fans with another chapter to explore both Wesley's journey to become an überassassin as well as the epic fiction surrounding "The Fraternity"
  • Experienced Movie-Game Team: The Wanted video game re-teams the film studio with executive game producer Pete Wanat, who has previously collaborated with UPDPG on critically acclaimed movie-based games The Thing, The Chronicles of Riddick: Escape from Butcher Bay, and Scarface: The World is Yours

Wanted, under development for PC, Xbox 360 and PS3, will hit the store shelves in North America on March 24th, 2009.
