'DmC: Devil May Cry' (ALL) Unveils Special Difficulty Modes - Screens

by Rainier on Nov. 1, 2012 @ 2:24 p.m. PDT

Set against a contemporary backdrop, DmC depicts a duplicitous world where nothing is ever as it seems and the line between good and evil is constantly blurred. Spurred into action by the promises of a trusted relation, Dante bursts into this world intent on revenge at any cost.

Detailing Dante’s early years and set against a contemporary backdrop, DmC Devil May Cry will retain the stylish action, fluid combat and self-assured protagonist that have defined the iconic series but inject a more brutal and visceral edge.

In addition to the standard three difficulty modes (Human, Devil Hunter and Nephilim) Capcom unveiled four "special" difficulty modes.

As has traditionally been the case for the series, each mode will be unlocked upon successive playthroughs of the game on successive difficulties. This gives plenty of incentive for multiple playthroughs (as if having a lot of fun wasn't incentive enough)

  1. Son of Sparda - Remixed enemy layouts, tougher enemies and enemy behavior throughout.
  2. Dante Must Die - As above, but contains the strongest enemies and insane attack waves.
  3. Heaven or Hell - Another remixed mode, but everyone and everything, including Dante, dies after one hit. Supremely satisfying!
  4. Hell and Hell - The same as above, but only Dante dies after one hit. For serious contenders.

This should give serious players plenty to do even after their initial playthrough and provide an appropriate level of challenge for anyone.
