'Dungeon Defenders II' (ALL) Early Access Update Adds New Content & Features - Trailer

by Rainier on Sept. 4, 2015 @ 9:04 a.m. PDT

Dungeon Defenders II throws action-RPG and tower defense gameplay into the proverbial blender to create a seamless mix of leveling, looting and high-action territorial combat for casual and core players alike, now with a cooperative and competitive mode.

In Dungeon Defenders II, the land of Etheria has been invaded by the Old Ones and players must rally, alone or with friends, against the invasion. The game features brand new combat and defense placement systems that synchronize the roleplaying, action, and tower defense elements of the franchise for even more strategic gameplay. New defense and ability interactions make for exciting, emergent gameplay and new environmental traps increase variety and strategic planning throughout each level in the game.

The competitive mode is a Multiplayer Online Battle Arena set in the Dungeon Defenders universe. Together, 5 players will take up arms to defend their towers against the opposing team. This fast-paced, streamlined MOBA aims for a shorter learning curve and more rpg-esque take on the genre.

There’s some other things like playverse, cross-platform play and all that jazz.

The ‘Alpha & Beyond’ patch for Dungeon Defenders II brings the action tower defense game to an important new stage of development through Steam Early Access.

'Alpha & Beyond' kicks off the process of rolling narrative into Dungeon Defenders II. A cinematic sequence introduces players to the story of the game, and two remixed maps – the Happy Throne Room and Ramparts – set up the tragic events coming in the next Adventure Pack.

Dungeon Defenders II now features a Daily Bonus system with growing rewards for the first five maps players tackle each day. An update to Nightmare Mode has reordered Free Play and Nightmare maps into blocks of increasing difficulty to award better experience points and loot. New legendary items, passives and spheres are being added to the game constantly to let players craft unique character builds, and the Skill Sphere UI has been reworked for easier navigation and use in the heat of the moment.

Trendy has also added three costumes to Dungeon Defenders II  with today’s patch – the Steampunktress, Volcano Apprentice and Dryad Apprentice – and it is now much easier to unlock accessories for skins. A fresh monthly quest – called The Big Hunt – offers players a new possessed sword pet to obtain, as well.

Dungeon Defenders II is now available on PC via Steam Early Access, priced at $24.99 standard, includes $30 of in-game currency and an exclusive Hero Embellishment set. An upgraded bundle with exclusive skins and more is also available.

A new Starter Pack of Dungeon Defenders II is out now on PC via Steam Early Access for $14.99. The Defenders Pack and Collector’s Edition, each featuring a variety of in-game exclusives, are also available on Steam.

Dungeon Defenders II will be FREE, free-to-play not be pay to win.
