With the freedom to adapt and evolve the battlefield in new and unseen ways, the battlefield will never be the same.

DICE unveiled a first look at its free, new live service, Tides of War, with a post launch roadmap for Battlefield V detailing the first three Chapters including the return of Rush, a new War Story, and launch updates for Firestorm and Combined Arms.

Some highlights include…

  • Chapter 1: Overture (coming 2 weeks after launch) - Includes the new map Panzerstorm and The Last Tiger War Story
  • Chapter 2: Lightning Strikes (January - March) - Rush mode returns; Combined Arms launches
  • Chapter 3: Trial by Fire (March) - Firestorm, Battlefield’s Battle Royale mode launches; Greece map added

Premium Pass is dead and all future content coming to Battlefield V will go to all players for free.

EVERY CHAPTER BRINGS A NEW BATTLEFIELD

With eight maps set in frozen landscapes, desert heat, and everything in between, eight exciting game modes, single-player War Stories, outstanding gunplay, a wide arsenal of weapons, vehicles, and gadgets, progression, customization, Specializations for weapons and vehicles, and much more – you’ll have tons to do at the November 20 launch of BattlefieldV.

However, that is just the beginning. There's also everything coming in Tides of War, the live service for Battlefield V.

As the Tides of War journey kicks off, each of its chapters will evolve and expand the battlefield. What will this mean to you as a player? Starting off in broad terms, below is what you can look forward to post-launch.

Evolving Gameplay: Thrilling ways of experiencing Battlefield V will be added through fresh Fortifications, and Reinforcements. Iconic WW2 hardware like vehicles, weapons, and gadgets will also be added.

New Experiences: Play through a new single-player War Story dubbed The Last Tiger, co-op with a friend in Combined Arms, do battle royale the Battlefield way in Firestorm, experience new game modes and Grand Operations, and hone your skills in the upcoming Practice Range.

An Expanding World: You’ll get to deploy on fresh maps as chapters bring new battlefields. Shortly after launch, this starts with Belgium and the Panzerstorm map with tank-focused gameplay, expanding to the battlefields of Greece – and the journey will continue.

Game Improvements: Quality of life updates will regularly improve Battlefield V, fix bugs, and balance the game.

CHAPTER 1: OVERTURE (EARLY DECEMBER – JANUARY)

Roughly two weeks after Battlefield V’s release, we kick off Tides of War and its first chapter.

Chapter 1: Overture brings the Panzerstorm map, where the German mechanized war machine plunges into Belgium, smashing into Allied defensive forces. On this tank-focused arena, you’ll roll across ridges, ditches, and elevated roads with a massive force of armor, carving a path of destruction through the countryside.

The first chapter also lets you take on an addition to our single-player War Stories: The Last Tiger. In it, a lone Tiger Tank crew begins to question the ideology that got them to this point.

During this period, we’ll add the initial iteration of Practice Range to Battlefield V. A seat of learning or just messing around, this area will contain trials to work on your shooting, driving, and flying. Based on the Hamada map, this is an environment that can’t kill you – until someone finds the Friendly Fire button, that is.

You'll get to explore Vehicle Customization when Chapter 1 starts, too. Stand out on the battlefield with stunning tank skins and make your mark on the skies with plane skins and nose art decals.

The Overture brings weekly events and rewards that will keep highlighting the finer details of Battlefield V gameplay. Each event brings a series of challenges that lets you earn new Tides of War rewards. Also, look forward to the rewards for each time you level up your chapter rank.

CHAPTER 2: LIGHTNING STRIKES (JANUARY – MARCH)

With Lightning Strikes arriving early next year, the Tides of War continue – this time with a focus on vehicle warfare and rapid infantry movement. The chapter brings to life the fear created by the Axis war machine through original content and challenges built around vehicle play.

Combined Arms: Join forces with up to three friends and take on the co-op experience of Combined Arms. In a series of Combat Strike missions across several maps, you and your squad will fight against AI components in various challenges.

During the chapter, two game modes will be added to Battlefield V. A revamped Rush is one of them. Say goodbye to MCOM stations and hello to bombs as you take on this classic, only available during Lightning Strikes.

Speaking of classic modes, in Squad Conquest, you’ll take on the most iconic way to play Battlefield – but in a more intense way. Only 16 players – two squads per team – will fight for map domination.

Like Chapter 1, Lightning Strikes also brings weekly events and rewards, along with chapter rank-up goodies.

CHAPTER 3: TRIAL BY FIRE (STARTING IN MARCH)

Battle Royale comes to Battlefield with Firestorm and the war reaches Greece as the third Tides of War chapter is unleashed in the Spring.

Firestorm: During spring, DICE and Criterion start the fire with Battlefield V’s battle royale experience. Firestorm elevates the mode by bringing in the best of what Battlefield is known for. Mix a shrinking playing field with trademark Battlefield elements such as team play, powerful vehicles, and destruction, and you get many unique Battlefield moments coming your way.

Greece map: Join a massive aerial invasion along the Cretan coast. The Allied side is desperate to cling to the island under attack by the Axis, attempting to break through the British defenses air superiority and paratroops. This map brings all-out war defined by a power struggle between tank control versus air superiority.

Again, just like the other chapters, Trial by Fire will let you tackle weekly events to earn rewards, and as you progress through the chapter, further unlocks await.

WAYS TO PLAY BEYOND CHAPTER 3

Beyond the first chapters, even more experiences will come your way as the battlefields keep evolving. Stay tuned for info on new locations, new weapons, new vehicles, and more. Until then, we hope you look forward to the first exciting months of Battlefield V and its expanding worlds.

In new and classic multiplayer modes, players can lead their own unique Company to victory in a dynamic multiplayer experience where every battle is unique. The Company allows players to create and deeply customize their soldiers, weapons and vehicles that will evolve as they progress, covering everything from the way they look to the way they play. Fan favorite modes like the 64-player Conquest return, with the game’s multiplayer culminating in Grand Operations, an all-new live, event-based experience within Tides of War. These multimap, multi-mode dynamic events take players through vast historical battles to relive moments of bravery and desperation while fighting to the final objective.

The acclaimed single-player campaign mode from Battlefield 1, War Stories, returns for Battlefield V. Witness the conflict through the eyes of men and women of World War 2 and experience untold stories of human drama, filled with Battlefield moments. Experience the freezing Norwegian landscapes as a young Norwegian resistance fighter or come ashore into the desert heat of North Africa - and more.

Tides of War is DICE’s new approach to live services, where players will set out on an epic journey with their Company in unexpected battles throughout World War 2. There will be no premium pass, all players will have access to the same maps and modes, keeping the community unified as they progress through Battlefield V. In Tides of War, their journey through World War 2 will grow through themed experiences that will include events and all-new ways to play like Grand Operations, while also unlocking the latest themed rewards such as weapons and vehicles to further shape their Company.

Battlefield V will be available worldwide Nov. 20 on Xbox One, PS4 and Origin for PC. Those that order the Battlefield V Deluxe Edition will get access three days early, while EA Access and Origin Access members will be able to jump into the Play First Trial. Players that pre-order any edition of the game with the Battlefield V Enlister Offer will get early access to the Open Beta and other in-game benefits including soldier customization options, access to Special Assignments starting at launch week and immediate access to five weapons to use in Battlefield 1.
