'Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker' (ALL) Special Episode DLC Comes Tomorrow

by Rainier on March 13, 2019 @ 8:44 a.m. PDT

Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker lets players take control of intrepid explorer Captain Toad as he sets off on adventures like exploring a haunted house or escaping a smoldering volcano.

Even though Toad characters have appeared in video games since the original Super Mario Bros. game on NES, this is the first time that one of them gets top billing.

The new Switch version includes new miniature courses based on various Kingdoms in the Super Mario Odyssey game. Also, anyone can play with a friend or family member by sharing a pair of Joy-Con controllers. While one player controls Captain Toad, the other can assist with things like turnip cover fire.

A Nintendo 3DS version of Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker, which includes stereoscopic 3D visuals and touch-screen controls, also launches on July 13.

Guess who’s ready for more adventure? The turnip-throwing explorer Captain Toad, that’s who! The Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker – Special Episode DLC, coming to the Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker game for the Nintendo Switch on March 14, offers a treasure chest full of Toad-ally great new content.

The DLC contains 18 new challenges among five creative new courses. Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker – Special Episode is available for $5.99, and anyone who pre-purchases the new downloadable content directly in Nintendo eShop on Nintendo Switch now will have access to Shifty Shrine, the first of the five new courses.

The remaining DLC will become available on March 14.

Key Features:

  • Equipped with nothing more than a neck scarf, backpack and oversized head lamp, Captain Toad finds hidden gems, coins and power-ups on his way to the gold star at the end of each tricky, trap-filled stage.
  • Captain Toad isn’t particularly fast or strong. He can’t jump and he has no super powers. But he knows that sometimes, it’s all about wits and perspective.
  • Twist the camera to reveal hidden locations and other secrets. The Wii U GamePad offers a closer view of the dangers and hidden items in each maze, and its gyro controls can also be used to peer around.
  • Captain Toad’s world is brimming with life, with dangerous enemies, tricky platforms, nasty traps and secrets to uncover. Each stage is its own puzzle to solve, and littered throughout are hidden items in hard-to-reach places. Can you help our tiny adventurer survive to find them all?

Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker is currently available on 3DS and Switch.
