'Sea of Thieves' Making Mayhem Event Gets You Borderlands Inspired Ship - Trailer

by Rainier on Aug. 24, 2021 @ 5:13 p.m. PDT

Sea of Thieves is an immersive, shared-world adventure game filled with pirates, unexpected dangers and loot for the taking.

In a monumental crossover of Sea of Thieves and Pirates of the Caribbean, Captain Jack Sparrow and his crew arrive in Season Three to spark a new adventure on the Sea of Thieves.

Unfolding across five incredible tales packed with secrets and side-quests, this new campaign gives players a lovingly crafted story to play solo or with their crew.

Players will go on a quest to free Jack Sparrow from his prison and witness the power of the world's greatest pirate treasure, which Jack happens to have stolen. Jack is being pursued by his old enemy, the notorious Davy Jones, and their arrival on the Sea of Thieves will ultimately spell disaster if Jones and his forces aren't stopped.

These iconic characters are much more than cameo appearances, and the developers have crafted a compelling original narrative that explores what makes each world special.

New adventures bring new environments and challenges. As the story progresses, players will battle Davy Jones alongside Captain Jack Sparrow and have the chance to explore memorable locations from both universes – not only extending to Sea of Thieves and Disney's Pirates of the Caribbean film franchise but the famous park attractions that have been thrilling people for decades.

Sea of Thieves surprised players with a stunning ship set designed in collaboration with the team over at Gearbox Software.

Pirates will be able to earn the full Mayhem ship set by taking part in the Making Mayhem event, live from now (August 24) until September 7, 2021! Plenty of time to dive into the Challenges and swipe all the rewards!

Larinna and the Bilge Rats have been working to get pirates co-operating and clearing out threats in recent times, so now it’s time to interject some more traditional Bilge Rat activities: accomplishing tasks through piratical pandemonium! In the Making Mayhem Event, it’s your job to enliven the Sea of Thieves by looting, shooting and blowing things up...

Larinna has laid out two flavours of Challenge to let you build Favour with the Bilge Rats: Minor Mayhem Challenges are bite-sized tasks like blasting a shark with a Gunpowder Barrel or torching skeletons with a Firebomb, while Major Mayhem Challenges are more lucrative but demanding acts like looting all the gold piles in a Treasure Vault or tearing through a Tall Tale. Earn enough Favour and you’ll be rewarded with parts of the Mayhem ship set – the envy of looters and shooters the world over!

Complete Major and Minor Mayhem Challenges to earn Favour with the Bilge Rats. Earn enough Favour and Larinna will reward you with parts of the Mayhem ship set. Ship parts earned will be available to equip from the relevant in-game chests within 72 hours.

See below for the list of all Major and Minor Mayhem Challenges that you can tackle to earn Favour!

Minor Mayhem Challenges - Short, sweet opportunities for crews on a tight schedule to earn the Bilge Rats' Favour.

  • Earn a fair amount of Favour by... Exploding Gunpowder Skeletons in a chain reaction.

Players will face grave danger from deadly new enemies wherever they sail. Terrifying Phantoms will require swift reflexes to deal with, while Sirens swarm beneath the waves and wield devastating new weapons of their own. Even the decks of ships might not be safe if there are lumbering Ocean Crawlers around, and these new threats will be appearing all around the Sea of Thieves in future updates, not just during players' adventures with Jack Sparrow!

The Sea of Thieves: A Pirate's Life update is the cornerstone of Season Three, now available and free for all players who have purchased the game on Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S or PC, or have access to it via Xbox Games Pass.
