Sony Discontinuing The PlayStation Plus Collection, Get'em While You Can!

by Christian on Feb. 1, 2023 @ 3:11 p.m. PST

When Sony launched the PS5, PlayStation Plus members were able to get a selection of free PS4 titles through PlayStation Plus Collection, but that is about to come to an end.

One of the nice selling points for new Playstation 5 owners was the Playstation Plus Collection, a collection of free to download (if you have PS+) Playstation 4 games that PS5 players could start playing as soon as they set up their system.

The service has been going on since the PS5’s launch, aside from Persona 5 being dropped shortly before the PS5 release of Persona 5 Royal. Unfortunately that all seems to have come to be coming to an end.

The service will sunset on May 9th, 2023. The list of games being removed is a sort of who’s who of the Playstation 4’s best.

It includes:

  • Batman: Arkham Knight
  • Battlefield 1
  • Bloodborne
  • Call of Duty: Black Ops III: Zombie Chronicles Edition
  • Crash Bandicoot N.Sane Trilogy
  • Days Gone
  • Detroit: Become Human
  • Fallout 4
  • Final Fantasy XV: Royal Edition
  • God of War (2018)
  • Infamous: Second Son
  • The Last Guardian
  • The Last of Us Remastered
  • Monster Hunter: World
  • Mortal Kombat X
  • Ratchet & Clank (2016)
  • Resident Evil VII: Biohazard
  • Uncharted 4: A Thief's End
  • Until Dawn

Quite a few of the games, including Sony’s big-name titles like God of War and Bloodborne will remain available through the PS Plus game catalog but others are no longer going to be available in any form. This includes Call of Duty: Black Ops III: Zombie Chronicles Edition and Battlefield. Probably most noteworthy for PS5 players is The Last of Us Remastered which is the PS4 updated version of the game, not the PS5 remake.

These games will still be available to anyone who picked them up before the program finished as long as they retain an active PS+ account, so it’s strongly recommended for any PS5 owners to pick them up as soon as possible. PS+ subscribers have until May 9th so don’t put it off.
