After an age of warfare, the superpowers of the land of Valoran have come together to form a governing body that will settle all disputes behind the closed doors of the Institute of War. Their task is a noble one — to lift the impossible weight of bloody war off the shoulders of the world and place it upon a select few — The League of Legends. On the Fields of Justice, legendary Champions forge alliances and resolve their differences in battle arenas. In the League there is one rule that reigns over all else: Winner rules all.

In League of Legends, players take on the role of a persistent Summoner avatar that gazes upon the battlefield from above and influences battles by taking command of a chosen Champion. During each online multiplayer play session, gamers will choose one of dozens of unique Champions wielding diverse skills and abilities, and engage in fast-paced team-oriented combat to bring their foes to ruin. Champions will gain levels, items, and abilities that enable them to slay their opponents and augment the strength of their allies by battling with enemy minions, foul beasts, deadly turrets and enemy Champions. Players also advance their Summoner’s rank and power to gain new abilities and items, assisting their Champions in battle.

League of Legends emphasizes team-oriented gameplay and players must work together in order to defeat the opposing team. Players will be able to communicate easily through in-game lounges and chat rooms, and forums will act as a conversational hub for a wide variety of discussions amongst community members. League of Legends will feature custom-built multiplayer support including matchmaking, stat tracking, clan support, anti-cheat systems, dedicated in-game ladders and Leaverbuster technology. In addition to extensive multiplayer features, League of Legends will include a single-player mode where players can learn how to play and practice new strategies by engaging robust Bot-AI.

Riot Games revealed their latest game mode, Swarm | Operation: Anima Squad, for their upcoming in-game summer event, Anima Squad, for "League of Legends."

Returning from its initial debut in 2022, Anima Squad reimagines classic "League of Legends" champions as cybernetic, animal-themed, super powered warriors standing together against the civilization-ending invasion of the abyssal Primordians. 

Swarm | Operation: Anima Squad is a take on the bullet heaven, survivor genre, featuring co-op PvE gameplay and brand new and returning Anima Squad versions of popular "League of Legends" champions. Players will also be introduced to Aurora the Witch Between Worlds, a Freljordian vastayan and "League of Legends" latest addition to the champion roster. 

"At the start of the year, we talked about creating fun, new ways to enjoy 'League of Legends,' and we're really excited to introduce Swarm to players during this summer's Anima Squad event," said Game Director Pu Liu. "We're very proud of the team's work, and hope that Swarm will bring players a lot of laughs and fun times with friends old and new."

The Anima Squad event begins globally on Wednesday, July 17 and ends on Monday, August 19.

Swarm | Operation: Anima Squad

• Grab up to 3 friends and choose from a roster of elite Anima Squad members. Then, fight together as humanity’s last hope against the Primordians. 
• With a WASD control scheme, players will run around in a brand new map of Final City, mowing down enemies, completing missions, and surviving as long as they possibly can.
• As the battle unfolds, players can unlock and upgrade powerful weapons and new Anima Squad members to help defeat the swarms of enemies coming to take over and mix up their strategy. 
• Players can work to permanently strengthen themselves, match over match, by purchasing Power Ups with gold earned in each game. These Power Ups grant permanent buffs to give the team an edge in future field operations, so players can progress further and further in each match.

Aurora The Witch Between Worlds

Born to a Freljordian tribe of vastayan bunnies, Aurora grew up with the ability to see the veil between the spirit and material realms. This unique skill made it difficult for her to connect with her peers, but allowed her to find companionship with the nearby spirits that occupied that limbo. Determined to learn more about her abilities, Aurora left her village to travel across the Freljord. 

Aurora is a solo laner, with the flexibility to play in both the top and mid lanes. A skirmisher mage with the ability to enter into a "spirit mode," Aurora is a unique addition to the champion roster in gameplay, background, and personality.
