'Fortnite' Battle Passes Getting Rid Of Item Exclusivity

by Rainier on Aug. 7, 2024 @ 2:22 p.m. PDT

Fortnite is an expansive original world that invites players to be creative, resourceful and collaborative, combining building skills and destructible environments with intense PvP combat.

In Fortnite, players and their friends lead a group of Heroes to reclaim and rebuild a homeland that has been left empty by a mysterious darkness only known as “the Storm.”

Players will band together online to explore the world for resources, build extravagant forts, find or build insane weapons and traps as they protect their towns from the strange monsters that emerge during the Storm.

Fortnite Battle Royale is the FREE 100-player PvP mode in Fortnite. One giant map. A battle bus.

The last one standing wins.

Items in future Fortnite Battle Passes might be offered for purchase in the Fortnite Shop after 18 or more months from the Battle Pass’ expiration. A Battle Pass item may include a different number of its alt Styles each time it comes to the Shop.

This change lets us continue investing in new and exciting Battle Pass rewards while enabling players down the road to also enjoy the content, including Outfits based on popular licensed characters.

Battle Pass benefits stay the same: pages of unlockable rewards you can use across one or more Fortnite experiences. You’ll still be able to progress in the Battle Pass by playing any experience that grants XP!

Battle Pass Exclusivity Change - FAQ

Are all types of items eligible to be in the Shop later?

Yes. At least 18 months after a Battle Pass expires, any type of item from the Battle Pass may be added in the Shop for purchase. These include Outfits, Back Blings, Pickaxes, Emotes, Instruments, Decals, Wraps, Loading Screens, Banner Icons, and more.

Are all items guaranteed to come to the Shop after 18+ months?

No. Shop selection is dependent on a variety of factors, and there is no guarantee that a Battle Pass item will come to the Shop after this change goes into effect. If an item in a future Battle Pass will never be available outside the Pass, we’ll let you know!

When a Battle Pass item comes to the Shop, will its alt Styles be included?

The number of alt Styles included with a Battle Pass item may vary each time it comes to the Shop. If a Battle Pass item is in the Shop with alt Styles included, players will have the option to purchase those included Battle Pass Styles, and the Outfit/base item if they don’t have it.

“Alt Styles” do not include LEGO Styles. If an item has a LEGO Style, this Style will always come with the item in the Shop.

What about items in the Bonus Rewards tab and Quest Rewards tab?

Items in the Bonus Rewards and Quest Rewards tabs may be available for purchase in the Shop at least 18 months after the Battle Pass expires.

There are usually items earnable from Battle Pass Quests that unlock sometime after the Battle Pass launches. What about these?

Items earnable from Battle Pass Quests that unlock sometime after the Battle Pass launches may be available for purchase in the Shop at least 18 months after the Battle Pass expires.

What about licensed (“IP”) content in Battle Passes?

One reason for this change is that we want players down the road to enjoy Battle Pass content such as Outfits based on popular licensed characters. While there is no guarantee that a Battle Pass item will come to the Shop after this change, IP content from future Battle Passes might come to the Shop at least 18 months after the Battle Pass expires.

Is the price of the Battle Pass changing?

The price of the Battle Pass will still be 950 V-Bucks, with the opportunity to earn 1,500 V-Bucks back by leveling up. The price of the giftable Battle Pass will still be $8.49 USD (or regionally equivalent price).

Fortnite is currently available for Nintendo Switch, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, PC, Android and iOS.
