Embracer Group Completes Saber Interactive Sale, Retains 4A Games And Zen Studios

by Rainier on Sept. 13, 2024 @ 9:26 a.m. PDT

Embracer Group announced it has completed the sale of Saber Interactive assets and the cancellation of the option for Saber to acquire 4A Games and Zen Studios.

Embracer Group announces the receipt of USD 168.4 million (approximately SEK 1.72 billion). In addition to the early repayment Embracer will be paid an additional USD 28.1 million later in 2024 and 2025. This settlement is related to the divestment of selected assets from the former operative group Saber Interactive, announced on March 14, 2024 and closed on March 28, 2024. The settlement concludes the financial aspects of the transaction, with the total payment reflecting both the early settlement of the promissory notes and the cancellation of the option for the buyer to acquire 4A Games and Zen Studios.

As previously announced, the divestment was made to Beacon Interactive, a company controlled by Saber Interactive’s co-founder Matthew Karch. The divestment has contributed to improving Embracer’s cash flow, reducing capital expenditures, net debt, and future liabilities. With this payment, all commitments related to the transaction, including financial obligations, are now fully settled.

“We are satisfied with the conclusion of this transaction and very glad to see the great teams and assets of 4A Games and Zen Studios remain within Embracer. They will be important building blocks in our continued journey. 4A Games has currently two AAA titles under development that we eagerly await to announce. I would also like to take this opportunity to thank Matthew Karch for his contributions over the years, and at the same time congratulate the Saber team on the successful release of the iconic Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2, that will make a great start in their new structure” says Lars Wingefors, co-founder and CEO of Embracer.
