'Dragon Ball: Sparking! Zero' Will Have 181 Playable Characters At Launch, Reveals Final 27 Characters - Screens & Trailer

by Rainier on Sept. 19, 2024 @ 8:45 a.m. PDT

Dragon Ball: Sparking! Zero brings back the revered 3D action battle game series previously known as Budokai Tenkaichi in the West.

Dragon Ball: Sparking! Zero is the first entry in the series since Dragon Ball Z: Budokai 3 released in 2007 on PS2

Dragon Ball: Sparking! Zero brings the series forward to a new era by harnessing the power of Unreal Engine 5 and pushing the envelope for gameplay and features in an arena brawler. Dragon Ball: Sparking! Zero also brings the franchise back to the original Japanese naming convention, where the original Dragon Ball Z: Budokai Tenkaichi was titled Dragon Ball Z: Sparking!

The game’s gravity-defying fights promise to ‘shake the earth, break the heavens’, with each Dragon Ball character’s signature destructive powers and Ki abilities showcased in stunning detail with damage capable of destroying entire parts of the arena.

Engage in exhilarating battles with exceptional visual fidelity, fighting arenas with destructible environments, and an incredible roster of Dragon Ball fighters.

Bandai Namco revealed the final characters in the massive roster of fighters coming to Dragon Ball: Sparking! Zero.

Fans have been eagerly awaiting each trailer to see which of their favorites will be playable at launch in sequel in the DRAGON BALL Z: BUDOKAI TENKAICHI series. A new trailer released today unveiled the final 27 new characters, adding favorites from DRAGON BALL SUPER and the DRAGON BALL Z feature films.

The final tally may surprise fans who speculated on the number of characters in the game based on a ‘honeycomb’ graphic that filled up with each new character reveal. Today, Bandai Namco shattered expectations by unveiling the complete roster. The 27 new fighters added to the final roster of 181 fighters now feature iconic characters from DRAGON BALL Z original feature films joining the battle. The roster additions include Broly (Z), Broly (Z) Super Saiyan, and Broly (Z) Legendary Super Saiyan from the 1993 film Broly - The Legendary Super Saiyan. Cooler, in both his Final Form and Metal Cooler versions, from Cooler’s Revenge and The Return of Cooler, also make an appearance. Additionally, Android 13 and Fusion Android 13 from Super Android 13, Super Garlic Jr. from Dead Zone, Dr. Wheelo from The World’s Strongest, Lord Slug and his Giant Form from Lord Slug, Turles from The Tree of Might, and Bojack alongside Full-Power Bojack from Bojack Unbound complete the expanded lineup.

Following the epic defeat of Majin Buu, DRAGON BALL Super takes the action to new heights and incorporates the Universe 6 Saiyans, Cabba along with his Super Saiyan and Super Saiyan 2 forms, and Frost into the roster. The roster also includes Toppo, the formidable God of Destruction from the Pride Troopers of Universe 11 as well as the notorious Frieza Force Soldier.

Dragon Ball: Sparking! Zero is coming exclusively to PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC (Steam) on October 11, 2024.
