Inspired by the real-life events of the 1957 Windscale disaster in the North of England, Atomfall is a survival-action game set in the rolling British countryside.

Atomfall is a survival-action game set in the rolling British countryside. Atomfall is inspired by the real-life events of the 1957 Windscale disaster in the North of England, picking up the story five years after the fire in a fictionalized quarantine zone.

Opening in the style of a classic 1950s news reel, this latest trailer offers a closer look at Atomfall’s setting in the North of England. Atomfall is inspired by the real-life events of the 1957 Windscale disaster and the story picks up five years later in a fictionalized quarantine zone that encompasses a rolling countryside, valleys, caves and even a picturesque English village.

But this picture-perfect postcard setting is a hostile landscape that hides a dark mystery. To get to the bottom of what happened at Windscale, you will need to navigate military encampments, delve through abandoned bunkers below ground and risk your life in Pagan ruins. Your trusty metal detector will also help you uncover a few secrets buried beneath the surface.

Central to the dark mystery is the host of eccentric characters and cryptic organizations that inhabit the quarantine zone. These individuals have been cut off from the outside world for years and left to their own devices, and are anything but normal. Your interactions with them are important and will shape your journey. But be careful, not all survivors are friendly, and you will need to master an array of ranged and melee weapons if you are to survive.

Drawing on the legacy of classic British sci‑fi, with elements of folk horror, Atomfall blends nuclear paranoia with ancient mythology.

Two Brothers Pictures announced a television adaptation of Atomfall, which will be developed as a co‑production between Two Brothers and developer Rebellion.

Since launch, more than 3.7 million players globally have explored the world of Atomfall, and the game recently won Best British Game at BAFTA Games Awards 2026. The TV adaptation will expand on the game’s mythology while remaining faithful to its tone, themes and British roots.

Harry and Jack Williams, writers and Executive Producers, Two Brothers said: “Atomfall has such a distinctive British tone and setting, and it’s been a real joy developing it alongside the Rebellion team - especially as two brothers working alongside two brothers (Jason Kingsley CBE and Chris Kingsley CBE - co-founders of Rebellion). There’s something very exciting about expanding this strange, unsettling story for television.”

Jason Kingsley CBE, CEO and Creative Director, and Chris Kingsley CBE, Co-founder and CTO of Rebellion, are both Executive Producers on the project: “We are delighted to be partnering with Two Brothers to bring the world of Atomfall to television. Harry and Jack demonstrated a clear love for Atomfall and talked about their own particular endings when they were playing the game. It is always exciting to work with people who share the same passion for creating and telling great stories and we are sure that this partnership will help to deliver a television series that will delight fans of the game and beyond.”

The series will be written by Emmy and Golden Globe winning producers / writers Harry and Jack Williams (Fleabag, The Assassin, The Missing, Baptiste, The Tourist), and Executive Produced by Harry, Jack and Alex Mercer (The Assassin, Maya, The Tourist, Doctor Who) for Two Brothers.  For Rebellion, Jason and Chris Kingsley (Sniper Elite 1-5, Zombie Army 1-4, Dredd, School's Out Forever, Rogue Trooper) will Executive Produce alongside Ben Smith (School's Out Forever, Rogue Trooper).
