In Pokémon Pokopia, players play as a Ditto that has awoken from a long slumber and transformed to look like a human. Ditto meets the peculiar Professor Tangrowth, who has been living all alone in a place where humans and Pokémon once lived—and appears to be wearing human tools. Seeing the withered grass and trees, Ditto decides to build the area anew by crafting items and learning moves from other Pokémon, creating a utopia for everyone to live in, one step at a time.

The player can learn moves from the Pokémon they meet, helping to create habitats where different Pokémon will appear. The moves they learn can also be used for other purposes, such as smashing walls with Rock Smash, adding more greenery with Leafage, going from mountain to mountain in a single leap with Glide, or travelling across water with Surf.

Players can also interact with the Pokémon they meet, including playing jump rope with Bulbasaur’s vines, having Charmander light fires, or teaming up with lots of Pokémon to build houses to live in.

Pokémon may come to the player with requests for making their environment a more comfortable place to live. Some will even have important requests tied to solving larger problems. Fulfilling these requests will lead to the development of the entire area.

Players can also look forward to switching up their look with different hairstyles or outfits, and crafting items or furniture to personalise their surroundings. Up to four players can also enjoy playing together.

The Pokémon Company group announced that Pokémon Pokopia Expansion Pass—Part 1: Bubbly Basin launches on August 5, 2026 for Nintendo Switch 2, while the free Version 2.0 update also launches for everyone who owns Pokémon Pokopia.

Bubbly Basin is an underwater town where players can discover more Pokémon, build new furniture, try new outfits, prepare new food, and more.

With Bubbly Basin, players can:

• Build on the ocean floor with buoyant blocks.
• Power underwater bubble machines or streetlights with the help of Pokémon with the Generate specialty.
• Grow watermelons with the help of Pokémon with the Water specialty.
• Learn how to build a Sharpedo submarine to make a room reminiscent of a Secret Base!

New Details Revealed for Paid DLC Pokémon Pokopia Expansion Pass—Part 1: Bubbly Basin

In Part 1, players can look forward to making a splash in the new underwater town, Bubbly Basin. In this submerged space, players can grow watermelons with the help of Pokémon with the Water specialty, while Pokémon with the Generate specialty can power bubble machines or activate streetlights. Players can also discover more Pokémon, new outfits, a power-up for the move Surf, and a newly added prepared food – smoothies.

Players can traverse a hole in the sea floor to explore the deep sea shrouded in darkness and enjoy an exciting adventure alongside Pokémon by following the glowing coral.

Building reaches a new depth in Bubbly Basin with buoyant blocks, which allow players to make buildings that are only possible underwater, floating at different levels. Players can also build a Sharpedo submarine to make a room which feels like a Secret Base.

New Feature Revealed for Paid DLC Pokémon Pokopia Expansion Pass—Part 2

Scheduled for release in late 2026, players can look forward to dressing up alongside their favorite Pokémon by wearing accessories in Part 2 of the paid DLC. Players will also be able to find more furniture pieces and Pokémon. More details regarding Part 2 will be revealed in the future.

Pokémon Pokopia Ver 2.0.0 Free Software Update

Available to everyone who owns Pokémon Pokopia from August 5, players will be able to learn the move Dive from Manaphy as part of the Ver 2.0.0 free software update. Once learned, players will be able to swim alongside Water-type Pokémon and build underwater.

• Meet Professor Tangrowth: A peculiar professor who has been living all alone in a place where humans and Pokémon once lived together peacefully. They appear to be wearing human tools!  
• Build the Ideal Space: Learn moves from encountered Pokémon to help create habitats where even more Pokémon will appear. By teaming up with various Pokémon, players can build houses to live in.
• Encounter Peculiar Pokémon: In addition to Professor Tangrowth, players will encounter some mysterious Pokémon, including Peakychu, a pale Pikachu with drooping ears; Mosslax, a moss-covered Snorlax crowned with a blooming flower; and Smearguru, a colorful Smeargle that looks like it paints with its tail.
