About Judy

As WP's managing editor, I edit review and preview articles, attempt to keep up with the frantic pace of Rainier's news posts, and keep our reviewers on deadline, which is akin to herding cats. When I have a moment to myself and don't have my nose in a book, I like to play action/RPG, adventure and platforming games.

11. 'Quantum Break' (XOne)

Quantum Break blurs the line between gaming and TV by integrating drama and gameplay into one seamless, uniquely immersive experience.

Brian Dumlao: We still haven't seen much from this title since E3, but the premise remains intriguing, especially with the live-action portions coming at a time when Microsoft has pulled the focus away from TV and back to games. The developer's past with Alan Wake and Max Payne gives you a good feeling that the action will be fine, but the story has the chance to really make the title. Our hope is that it actually comes out this year instead of facing a delay.

Tony "OUberLord" Mitera: I'll admit that I know an impressively little amount of what Quantum Break is supposed to be, but I think we're all in the same boat. I get that it is going to be a shooter with its own riff on time manipulation, and it'll almost certainly feature some sort of "bullet time" mechanic. What I don't get, and what Microsoft isn't yet keen on telling, is how much they're breathing smoke when it comes to saying the game will impact the show and vice versa. It's an interesting hook, but I really want to see how it plays out in practice.

Rainier Van Autrijve: Remedy has an excellent reputation to make stellar games, and it has the track record to prove it, with titles such as Max Payne and Alan Wake. Quantum Break is finally expected to be released this year, so Microsoft and Remedy should be revving up the PR engine. We'll finally get more details about how they plan to bridge the TV and video game integration.  We expect Quantum Break to have a big presence at E3 2015 in the run-up to the release by the end of the year. The few bits of information and footage that have been released over the years should have any serious gamer looking forward to it.

Thomas Wilde: I'll follow Sam Lake and Remedy more or less anywhere. Alan Wake was a mixed bag, but there aren't many people who are having as much fun with game narratives as these guys are. I'm confident that they can put together a genuinely challenging, thought-provoking game about time travel, with a few moments of memorable weirdness along the way. I'm avoiding as much as I can about the game so I can go in relatively fresh.
