12. 'Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart' (PS5)

Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart is a brand new intergalactic adventure where players will seamlessly travel through different dimensions in mid-gameplay.

Redmond Carolipio: Other than God of War: Ragnarok, I'm looking at Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart to be one that'll give the PS5 a real chance to stretch its next-gen legs. Two of the most fun characters in the Sony universe are essentially getting a gonzo, time/world jumping adventure that can capture the imagination. I've never had a bad time playing a Ratchet & Clank game, and I expect to be impressed with their PS5 debut.

Chris "Atom" DeAngelus: Ratchet & Clank games are always a blast. Combining fun old-school platforming with increasingly ridiculous collections of weapons, they tend to mesh the best parts of mascot platformers and third-person shooters with a dose of clever humor. This game involves portals that can instantly teleport Ratchet and his robot pal to different locations, allowing for long-running battles across massively distinctive environments or creative ways to attack enemies from unexpected angles. There will be a new playable character who looks like a female version of Ratchet, although we don't yet know what role she'll play in the story. Rachet & Clank never disappoints, and Rift Apart looks to continue that trend.

Joseph Doyle: The original Ratchet & Clank was a real treat to play. It held such a special place in its time as a 3D platformer and third-person shooter that was sarcastic and edgy. If we need anything right now, it's a little pleasant nostalgia that's been freshened up for the present day, which R&C looks to deliver. The remake was so faithful to the original but upgraded the graphics and made the controls feel tight and responsive, and I'm looking forward to the same in this newest iteration.

Cody Medellin: Insomniac Games has been consistently good, and Ratchet & Clank games developed by Insomniac have been dependably fun. Seeing one come out so soon for the PS5 is great news for early adopters, and with the game showing off some fast loads into completely different worlds via the portal system, this looks to be another solid outing. Unless you don't care for the duo, consider this to be pretty much an essential addition to your new console.

David Silbert: It's hard to believe it's been nearly five years since the last Ratchet & Clank game. Thankfully, Insomniac's latest adventure, Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart, is just a few months away. Arguably the first real "killer app" for the PlayStation 5, Rift Apart will take advantage of the new hardware in novel ways as players zip through dimensional portals in some zany moments. The wait has been long, but we're nearly there!
