Wow, sweltering hot indeed. We've had one of the coldest summers on record, but our fall started off scorching hot.  It was bearable until shortly in the afternoon, but then the sun started beating down on the office. We're surrounded by an army of computers, so there's not much that can be done to keep things cool — aside from drink a lot of ice-cold beer. :)

Last night, we watched NCIS (hate the Los Angeles spin-off) and Bones, but with a multitiude of shows recording as we were watching, we fell even further behind. We're going to have to step it up!

Brothers in Arms: Hell's Highway, the third entry in the series, has you reprise the heroic role of Sergeant Matt Baker, a soldier of the 101st Airborne Division, during Operation Market Garden in the late stages of World War II. At UbiDays 08 Colonel John Antal revealed that he is in early talks to possibly make a movie based on his upcoming Brothers in Arms: Hell's Highway novel, which bridges the gap between the 8 days depicted in the game and the actual Operation Market Garden which lasted 10 days.

After a failed attempt to get the Halo picture off the ground with Peter Jackson as the executive producer, Microsoft has been shopping around the Gears of War franchise to movie studios, and it seems New Line Cinema has managed to reel it in. Stuart Beattie, known for Collateral and Derailed, will be writing, and it will be produced by Temple Hill's Marty Bowen/Wyck Godfrey. Gears of War is an action game where hero Marcus Fenix is rescued from prison by a small group of elite soldiers to save planet Sera from an invasion of aliens known as the Locust.

A few days ago Activision's financial results made no mention of the console iterations for Lionhead's movie studio sim, leading us to believe the projects were cancelled. Today Lionhead issued a brief statement that this is not true, they are still in the works, and even an expansion pack for the PC edition is in development.
