Eidos today announced the eagerly awaited return of the world's deadliest assassin in Hitman: Contracts. The game is the third installment in the critically acclaimed, multi-million selling Hitman series. Hitman: Contracts is being developed by Io Interactive and will be available for PlayStation2, the Xbox, and PC in spring 2004.

Screen Daily reports that the Danish computer game Hitman looks to be the next hit game to get the Hollywood treatment. The game's international distributor EIDOS is currently negotiating with unnamed Hollywood studios - although it has an existing relationship with Paramount for the Tomb Raider franchise. The Danish developers at IO Interactive have so far produced two games based on the Hitman character, and both have been international hits... Hitman 3 is set for a spring 2004 release.

Eidos Interactive has released a second playable demo for Hitman 2: Silent Assassin, once again allowing you to step into the shoes of Codename 47 if you don't own the full game yet. This demo contains a mission where you're attending a party, and have to kill a general and retrieve a suitcase (thanks 3DGamers). Read more for links where to grab this beauty ...

Following statement is posted under a link named 'corporate statement' on the official Hitman 2 site (the Sikh Coalition Website is also updated with information): Eidos is pleased to confirm that it has reached an amicable position with the Sikh Coalition in relation to the changing of certain images and references depicting Sikhs within the game Hitman 2:Silent Assassin which is on general release. In recognition of the concerns and sensitivities which have been raised, Eidos and the developers, IO Interactive, have responded in both a socially and commercially responsible manner by:

• removing from the Hitman 2 website all relevant images and content;
  
• taking steps to amend the game on all existing platforms;
  
• adapting the upcoming Gamecube Edition of the game. (thanks Blues)

This is the first patch for Hitman 2: Silent Assassin, bringing the English and German editions of the murderous third-person action game by IO Interactive to version 1.01. This release improves compatibility with CD-ROM drives, enables the game console, and adds some graphical enhancements. Download at 3DGamers (2MB)!

Eidos Interactive announces that the No.1 selling Hitman 2: Silent Assassin is to be released on GameCube. Since its release on PlayStation 2, PC and Xbox in October this year, the game has enjoyed worldwide success having shipped in excess of one million units. Hitman 2: Silent Assassin on GameCube is currently being developed by IO Interactive and will be released in Spring 2003. Check out the first few screens from the Gamecube version!

Following up a recent report that Hitman 2: Silent Assassin was delayed, Eidos sends word that "in our effort to make Hitman 2 the best game it could be" the contract killing sequel is now scheduled for release September this year, in order "to give additional time to the development team." In other release-related news, Microsoft has posted a Dungeon Siege International Release Dates schedule giving an idea when the game is expected in your area. Loaded Inc. posted a preview of Dungeon Siege based on the press beta build

Posts on Gone Gold and GameSpot indicate that Hitman 2: Silent Assassin has slipped from its expected release this month, and the new projected ship date is June, or even worse that the fate of IO Interactive's contract killing sequel won't arrive in stores until September, simply to give it more development time.

SpelletjesGarnaal just tossed up a new 6 MB trailer from IO Interactive's upcoming third-person action game, Hitman 2. This new trailer shows four minutes of gameplay and is available here. As usuall the video has "!@"#@$#" comments in their own language.
