Various online sources are claiming that a
leaked Bethesda release schedule reveals that The Elder Scrolls IV is headed for Sony's next-gen PS3 console, as well as its PSP, and would be scheduled for November 2006 (
thanks Modojo). When contacted, Bethesda's PR guru Pete Hines said there were no announced plans to bring Oblivion to any platforms other than PC or Xbox 360. This doesn't mean it's
not true because if it were announced, it would not be a rumor. Bethesda has not yet released its E3 lineup, so that might shed some light on the matter ...

Oblivion uses the X360 hard drive extensively to cache (copy and reuse) game data. Quite a few people have complained about
excessive load times, often caused by the cached data being overly fragmented. To solve this problem, reset your Xbox, and hold down the A button as the game is booting up, which will clear its hard drive cache, and create a new one. Once you see the Bethesda Softworks logo video, the game is already loaded, and the cache should have been cleared. This does not affect any save games.

Genre: Role-Playing
Publisher: 2K Games
Developer: Bethesda Softworks
Release Date: Christmas 2005
The Elder Scrolls series is celebrating its tenth anniversary. Considering the fact that this latest installment took over three years to make, that's not all that surprising. Bethesda's design philosophy is to build each game from the ground up, and for this ten-year edition, they're pulling out all the stops.
The first thing everyone is going to notice is just how flat-out gorgeous this game looks. Seriously, this is some near virtual-reality stuff. The game starts you off in a prison, where everything looks amazingly solid; the solidity

A few months ago, Bethesda disappointed a large portion of the community when it announced that TES IV:Oblivion was not going to make it as a launch title and delayed the game until March 2006, saying that more time was needed for polish.
Spanish site players4players claims there is more to it, as a confidential source told them that the real reason was a little bit more interesting. Oblivion had already been finished, but upon arrival of the official Xbox 360 dev kits, they realized the machine was more powerful than originally anticipated. Bethesda then decided to delay the game for optimization, especially of the graphics.

Last week
Take 2's financial results revealed a substantial delay for Bethesda's RPG The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion. Over the weekend PR Manager Pete Hines posted a
community update giving more insight into the reason why: "In short, the game is coming out in early 2006 because it isn't done yet. We still have things that need to be done before the game is released. So we continue to optimize, test, balance, etc. We've already gone way beyond what we did in any game previously in playtesting and balancing this game. Way beyond. But there is work that needs to be done and so development continues to go on pretty much around the clock. We will not put out a more specific date until we are certain we will be ready then. "

It was already rumored a few weeks back but Take 2 today confirmed that Bethesda's next-gen PRG will not be released this year. In its revised revenue and earnings guidance for fiscal 2005 and fiscal 2006, Take 2 confirmed not only that GTA: Liberty City Stories is delayed in Europe due to unexpected delays in final product testing and submission, but also that The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion for PC and Xbox 360 has been postponed from the Q1 to Q2 2006, which means not before February 2006. In the subsequent conference call Take 2 said that the delay was due to the fact that Bethesda needed more time to work on the title.
